The Junior lifeguard program is designed to teach youth lifeguarding skills and allow them to participate in supervised recreational water activities. It also develops these youngsters as individuals and prepares them for future lifeguard employment possibilities.
The County of Los Angeles, Department of Parks & Recreation is committed to the educational advancement of youth and their involvement in recreational activities. In an effort to include as many well deserving applicants as possible, we have created a "Campership" program. Similar to a scholarship program, the Camperships are designed to help defray the costs of participation in the Junior Lifeguard program.
The criteria of the Campership program is based on the following three categories: (1) academic performance (2) community involvement and (3) financial need. Youngsters must meet the eligibility requirements, based on their application.
THE APPLICATION IS DUE THE DAY OF THE SWIM TEST
