"How are you failing PE?" Mikey said to Gerard as they left campus and went towards the car.
"I can't swim, we're doing swimming right now."
"Couldn't you run laps or something to get the points?"
"I'll make them up.  I just have to do a big report on how swimming benefits our health," Gerard said, opening the drivers side and tossing his backpack over the seat into the back.
Mikey got into the passengers seat and put threw his backpack next to his brother's before closing the door.  Gerard started the engine and backed out of the parking spot.  The car wasn't the newest, but they only really needed it to get to school and back.
"So has Dad found out that you're failing chemistry?" Mikey asked non-chalantly.
"No, and he's not going to, right?" Gerard said, giving Mikey a hard glare.
"Right.  But he will find out when he expects you to walk up and get a diploma and they skip you and to on to Josie Wendson."
They stopped at the light.  Next to them was a blue convertible.  Only about a year old.  Gerard watched as a girl with long straight glossy black hair tapped her fingers on the dashboard waiting for the light to change.  Her brown eyes fixed on the light as she chewed her gum.
"You know you have no chance with Mindy right?" Mikey said.
"Shut up Mikey, or I'll make you walk home."  Gerard did agree though.  Mindy didn't know he was alive, and why would she?  She was popular and her family made quite a bit of money.  Gerard's family wasn't anywhere near poor, but it still didn't add up to what her family made.
The light turned green and they headed down the street.
"Did Mom want us to pick something up?" Mikey asked.
".... Um....... Wait.... Uh...... was it Milk?"
"Something in the dairy isle."
"Alright, let's go."
He turned on the right turn signal and pulled into the grocery store parking lot.  Gerard got out and sighed and shook his head.  Mikey had tried to get out of the car without taking his seatbelt off.  When he was out of the car, Gerard locked the doors and put the keys in his pocket.
"Come on, like you've never done that," Mikey said as they walked to the front doors of the store.
"No, I haven't."
"It's only a matter of time then."
"I don' t think so."
"But I'm sure a lot of people have done that at least once."
"Hello, and welcome, if you need any assistance today please don't hesitate to ask," said an employee un-enthusiastically.
"Sure...." Mikey said before they walked down to the dairy isle.
"... what did Mom want?...."
"She wanted you guys to get milk and eggs," said someone behind them.  They turned their heads and saw Charlotte wearing a red vest with the store's logo on it over a back t-shirt and a pair of jeans.  She was still wearing her shoes that went with her uniform.
"Hi Charlotte, how do you know that?"
"I don't, but that's what
my mom always makes me get."
"Oh."
"Charlotte, have you ever tried to get out of the car with your seatbelt still on?" Mikey said.
"Drop it Mike," Gerard said.
"Yes, I have, hasn't everyone?" Charlotte said.
"Told you so."
Gerard rolled his eyes and put his hand in his pocket to get the money their mom had given them to buy whatever it was she wanted them to buy.  He found a crumpled note with the money.  He un-folded it and read aloud,"Milk, eggs."
"Hey I was right," Charlotte said.
"Charlie!  Take over the register for a minute!" Another employee called.
"I'm on it!" she said, then turned back to Gerard and Mikey,"It was nice seeing you guys."  She walked towards the front of the store.
Mikey and Gerard fallowed with what the items.  She scanned them and the bag boy bagged them.  She told them their total and gave them their change.
"See ya at school tomorrow," She said with a smile.
"Bye."
Gerard pulled into the drive-way and they got their backpacks out of the back seat.  Mikey had the grochery bag in his hand as Gerard looked for his key.  They walked into the house.
"Did you remember to go to the store?!" was the first thing they herd.
"Yes Mom," They said.
"Good," Donna said, coming in and taking the bag from Mikey.  She went and put the purchases in the fridge.  "How was school?" She asked as Mikey grabbed an apple and Gerard slumped into a chair.
"Alright," Mikey said.
"Did you get your locker open dear?" Donna asked with a smile.
".... very funny..."
"What about you Gerard?  How was your day?"
"Same as all the others."
"Nothing interesting happened?"
".... nope...."
"Alright then.  Do you two have a lot of homework?"
"Not really."
"Well, go get it done then."
"'K."
Gerard went up to his room and sat on his bed.  He turned on his stereo and opened his Chemistry book.  ".... uh..... hm....," Gerard said out loud as he read the questions he was suppost to answer.  It might as well be written in Portuguese... maybe then he'd be able to understand it a little.  "Screw it," he said, after ten minutes of confusion; tossing the book aside, he picking up his math book instead, waiting until later to attempt his chemistry.
