Ive notice that alot of parents and family members out there are completely uninformed about your childs rights and laws for their education. There are alot of things the school systems should be doing for our kids when we ask them to and they are not doing them. Did you know .. [at least in the state of missouri] if you request that your child have an IEE [Independent Education Evaluation] done by the school and at there expense then they have to do it. Always leave a paper trail , put everything in writing no matter how small it may seem. If you have proof that you made the request you can fight them on it. The school systems doesnt like to do them because they are expensive. But if your child has documented problems they have a right to help. Getting that help requires an IEE to be done, so your child can have an IEP [Independent Education Plan]
Its the law. It is also illegal for a school rep., teacher or anyone that works at the school to suggest that your child be put on medication. They are not allowed to discuss your childs medical condition with anyone but you or your child IEP team.
