BATAMAS capital structure has been established under the Domestic Investment scheme based on Law Nr. 6 year 1968 juncto Law Nr. 12 year 1970 which was stipulated on the Letter of Domestic Investment Approval (Surat Persetujuan Penanaman Modal Dalam Negeri) Nr.B/004/KA/I/PMDN/IX/1987 dated September 14, year 1987 that was amended based on Letter of Domestic Increasing Investment Approval (Surat Persetujuan Perluasan Penanaman Modal Dalam Negeri) Nr.B/003/KA/II/PMDN/V/1996 dated May 28, year 1996 with a total investment of above Sin$.50,000,000.- in the shipyard facility, construction and its production. Annual projection product of USD.40,000,000.- which that the fair market value of the assets appraised as at 1 December 1995, for continued use as part of a going concern, but without specific relation to earnings was Sin$. 82,000,000.- Mr. TATO SUWARTO and his wife Mrs. SRI RETNOWATI are the founders and stakeholder of PT. BATAMAS JALA NUSANTARA (BATAMAS) which the establishment of the company based on notary’s deed Nr. 92 dated May 23, year 1986 of Irawati Marzuki Arifin, Master of Law. The articles of association were amended based on notary’s deed Nr. 30 dated 8 January year 1988.
The yard can today be ranked an among the best of its size within the region, able to support the construction of highly integrated full-sized ocean going vessels of up to 12,000 DWT, which previously had been considered a product of only the major shipyards in Asia..

The lay out thus allow a large free surface to the east of the yard, which would be exclusively utilized for offshore structures fabrication. At the current stage of development of the yard and area of over 40 hectares has been designated for a large and modern shipyard and fabrication yard located at Tanjung Uncang Batam Island at coordinate of 010-04’-58” north latitude (lintang utara) 1030-53’-50,10” east longitude (bujur timur) as stipulated on the Minister of Communication (“MOT”) in its Decision Letter Nr. KP.223 year 2001 Re: “Pemberian Izin Operasi Kepada PT. Batamas Jala Nusantara Untuk Mengoperasikan Pelabuhan Khusus Industri Pembangunan dan Pemeliharaan Kapal (Galangan Kapal) di Tanjung Uncang, Kecamatan Batam Barat, Kota Batam, Propinsi Riau”, (Operation Permit Given to PT. Batamas Jala Nusantara for Operating Special Wharf for Industry of New Ship-building and Ship-repair (Ship Yard) at Tanjung Uncang, West Batam District, City of Batam, Riau Province) which the founder, shareholder and responsible person is belong to Mr. TATO SUWARTO, as President Director / Chief Executive Officer of BATAMAS..
Batam was selected as the site for BATAMAS’s operation in order to take advantage of Batam Island's excellent strategic location and its free trade zone. Since the company’s formation, BATAMAS had concentrated on developing its site at Tanjung Uncang into a large and modern shipyard and fabrication yard, with a long stretch of water frontage to enable BATAMAS to undertake and perform any kind of heavy steel works to respond to the increasing demand in the regional and world market. Batam Island is only 20 kilometers away from Singapore, and is therefore well positioned to benefit from its proximity to Singapore’s technology and markets.
