GRAND CONCLAVE OF THE ORDER
OF THE SECRET MONITOR
FOR
NORTHERN AUSTRALIA AND PAPUA NEW GUINEA
GRAND proclamation 30th MAY 2009
Once again, what can only be described as a wonderful weekend is now at an end.
On Friday evening 46 Brethren and ladies enjoyed a very successful Welcome Function with great food and wonderful fellowship in the Loft at the Broadway Hotel, Woolloongabba, with many old friendships being renewed and new friendships commencing.
Saturday saw the Proclamation of Most Worthy Brother Reginald James Matthews as Grand Supreme Ruler of this jurisdiction for the 2009-2010 Monitor Year by the Grand Director of Ceremonies, Very Worthy Brother Allan Verran and the Installing Team. Right Worthy Bro Donald Henderson Long was reappointed as a Deputy Grand Supreme Ruler for the second term and Right Worthy Brother James Burnett Seccombe was appointed, obligated and installed as a Deputy Grand Supreme Ruler. Right Worthy Bro Cecil Victor Melbom was conferred with the Rank of Past Grand Chancellor and Very Worthy Brother Barry Mitchell Triffett received the rank of Past Grand Director of Ceremonies from Most Worthy Brother Reg.
This ceremony was carried out at the Stones Corner Masonic Centre, in the the presence of over 120 Brethren, ladies, Master Masons and friends who filled the 2nd Temple to overflowing to make a wonderful spectacle for all to enjoy.
From the Masonic fraternity fourteen orders were represented including Grand Mark, Grand Chapter and the United Grand Lodge of Queensland represented by the Most Worshipful Grand Master . The heads of three of the four other Secret Monitor jurisdictions in Oceania were present and the Most Worthy Grand Supreme Ruler from New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory was represented by his Deputy Grand Supreme Ruler each being supported by Brethren from their Jurisdiction.
Following a light supper, 95 Brethren, ladies, Master Masons and friends returned to the Conclave Room to see the ceremony known as the Conclave of Remembrance to honour those Brethren of our Jurisdiction who have passed through the vale since the Conclave of Remembrance was last carried out in Townsville in May 2006.
The Ceremony was impressive and made complete by the harmony provided on three occasions during the Ceremony by Miss Laura Mulchay who was accompanied by her grandmother Mrs Jean McElligott to the delight of all present.
Sunday lunchtime saw 35 Brethren, ladies and friends return to The Loft at the Broadway Hotel, Woolloongabba to thoroughly enjoy a lunch which required each to cook their own food
Most Worthy Brother Reg wishes to thank all who participated in the several functions and wishes you all well.
When we invited all to attend we said
