My 13 year old buddy William
This is my LittleBrother William. For some strange reason he likes to be called "BUBBA". About a year ago I started volunteering with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Salina. It is a great way to help out a kid and gives you something to do as well! We like to do all kinds of things. As you can see he is a Jayhawk fan. I have tried to cure that by taking him to K-State open house and watching a bit of Football with him. We cook together, build things with wood, race slot cars and go-carts, and just have a generally good time. He has helped me become a more "normal" individual (Don't worry, I am resisting with all my might!) and got me to understand the intricasies of pokemon and seventh grade.
There are lots of kids who need someone to help them out a little in life. Both boys and girls. It doesn't cost a cent, you just need some time. There is always a waiting list and these are generally pretty good kids - they just need to get out of the house and do something . . anything! This is where you come in. If it sounds like something you could do, check with your phone book. You have to be a resonsible single person or a married couple, and they run you thru the FBI and the Child and Sexual Abuse database to keep the kids safe.
