According to executive producer Peter Abbott, the 2003 Big Brother housemates won't know what hit them.
Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph over the weekend, Abbott alluded to major changes in the three key elements of the hit reality show - the house, the housemates and the rules.
Identifying a key problem with the second series of Big Brother last year, where housemates expected The Intruders and knew there would be a stadium-sized audience waiting for them at the end of the their run, the Big Brother producers are hoping to return the element of surprise and unfamiliarity to the house.
"It's very important that the housemates go in with no hint of what's going on." he told The Sunday Telegraph.
Other amendments may include the introduction of a celebrity house guest to the house, contestants nominating in front of the other housemates, and a much, much tougher Big Brother himself.

Note - Not officially confirmed
(apart from the starting date)
BIG BROTHER 3 will OFFICIALLY be launched live from Dreamworld Studios at
Dreamworld Parkway Coomera, QLD on: Sunday April 27th 2003. Apparently
tickets are unavailable for the live recording of the housemates entering the
house. This footage will be played on Channel 10 at 7:00pm EST, Monday April 28.
The "Pre Series" show (featuring footage from behind the selection panel
process) will screen the night the series starts (April 27) from 7:30pm. The
team at SSE have been working non-stop since January 16th when the house closed
off to the public at Dreamworld. The team only took a break off on the Australia
Day weekend.
Series 3 housemates will consist of 12 people - 6 boys, 6 girls, however
this time there will be 6 intruders. The intruders will be seperated into
groups, 3 people per group, and the groups will be totally isolated from each
other other. The audience will choose 2 of the first 3 intruders to go in at
some stage - approx 4 - 5 weeks into series. One of the 2 will be evicted
decided by the housemates.
Several weeks later, 2 more housemates will be thrown in from the 2nd group. And
again, 1 of the 2 to be evicted. Decided by the audience.
To spice things up nominations and evictions will occur slightly differently.
HIGHER security and a bigger team this year.
Censorship will be vital for the show, as last year many complaints were
lodged, despite the fact "LIVE" shows were on a delay of 30 seconds. Clearly not
enough time.
The house I will not reveal anything about, except for the fact that nothing is
where it was before.
And one more thing...
BIG BROTHER UNCUT will no longer be broadcast on Thursday at 9.30pm. The
new proposed timeslot will be sometime on Saturday night. Time to be confirmed.
The first eviction will be LIVE on May 7th 2003 from 7.30pmEST.
