TO THE MEMBERS OF THE TOMLINSON FAMILY

Greeting: Having spent much time and expense in collecting data for this record, we send out this manuscript copy for correction, approval and additional information. Some of the addresses, no doubt need correcting, as the addresses given of many, were those of five years ago. Some of the biographies are very limited for lack of more information, which we will add if anyone will furnish us with the facts. We hope each one, who reads this record will write us, their criticism, of that which they dislike, and that which they approve, with such suggestions for further improvement as they may see fit. If a record is ever printed we want it to be as near perfect as is possible. One suggestion we will make at this time is that a small photogravure should be at the beginning of each biography. These would not be very expensive and would add much to the value of the history. The pen drawings are rude sketches made from memory to give an idea of the work when illustrated by a special artist. We would like to add many photogravures of homes or zinc etchings from pen drawings made from photographs.

In connection with this we wish to acknowledge the assistance of the following members without whose great interest and assistance this work could not have been compiled: John Wright Heath, Jacob W. Heath, Eli J. Tomlinson, Thomas W. Kirby, Alice Jane Thayer, Lydia Chase, James B. Tomlinson of Salt Lake, Martha E. Bailey, Isaac J. Williams, F. M. Tomlinson of Indianapolis, L. W. Tomlinson of Champaign, Ill. Rufus Dwiggins of Frankton, Ind., and Caroline Tomlinson of Honey Creek, Ind. All of the above have taken an interest and reported more than their immediate family.

Special Request: Each one receiving this book will please read it through at once, not holding it more than ten days, and then drop a postal card to Dr. S. W. Heath, Sioux Falls, S. D., stating when and from whom you received the book, how long you held it and to whom you passed it. Please do this without our having to trace it down every once and awhile. Take as good care of the book as possible and don't allow small children to handle it or turn through it. We suggest that some member of the family read it aloud during the evening so that all may have the benefit of hearing the story. Hoping that you will follow the above directions closely, we remain, Very Truly, Dr. S. W. Heath.

Pages 4 through 30 give general history information and genealogical information not related to the Tomlinson Family. They have not been copied.
