Lesson 4: IMAGES AND HOW TO PLACE THEM ON THE WEB PAGE
- Copyright law is complicated. Before using ANY graphics from a
web page, be sure to read all disclaimers and conditions of use.
- Use of only JPEG/JPG and GIF files is recommended. JPEG/JPG files
usually take up less disk space and GIF 89A files have "transparent"
backgrounds.
- Basic IMG SRC Tag:
<IMG SRC="imagename.imagetype">
Add ALT tag:
<IMG SRC="cat.gif" ALT="This is my cat">
Add HEIGHT and WIDTH tag:
<IMG SRC="cat.gif" ALT="This is my cat"
HEIGHT="100" WIDTH="75">
Add ALIGN tag for LEFT or RIGHT (HORIZONTAL):
<IMG SRC="cat.gif" ALT="This is my cat" HEIGHT="100" WIDTH="75" ALIGN="RIGHT">
(Note: If using Netscape, CENTER
must be used before the ALIGN tag and /CENTER after the ALIGN
tag. It cannot be included within the IMG SRC tag.
Add ALIGN tag for TOP, MIDDLE or BOTTOM (VERTICAL):
<IMG SRC="cat.gif" ALT="This is my cat" HEIGHT="100" WIDTH="75" ALIGN="BOTTOM">
SAMPLES OF THE EFFECTS OF THE ABOVE TAGS:
Thumbnail of image:
(46x36 1,656 bytes)
Alternate/Height/Width/Center using Netscape: (226x292 65,992 bytes)
This is just going to be a sample of a blockquote which I don't quite
understand
...Jane Doe surfs to a web page and ses a really nice drawing of a cat
in a rose garden. Since she is making a web pag with rose gardening as her theme
and she also loves cats, she uses her browser's copy function to save it to her
computer and for use on her new web page. If she uses it, will she be breaking
the law? Yes, if for profit, to make a collection of clipart, doesn't ask for
permission from the owner, etc. etc. etc. This is just going to be a sample of a blockquote which I don't quite
understand...
What if I wanted to indent again or even more?
Here is another try at making a BLOCKQUOTE have bigger margins by using FOUR (4) BLOCKQUOTES:
