WINGING
IT: "Witchblade" series star Yancy Butler envies Drew Barrymore, Cameron
Diaz and Lucy Liu for the months of training they were given before they
went into "Charlie's Angels" action -- and feels the same about Angelina
Jolie and Jada Pinkett Smith, the female action stars of "Tomb Raider"
and the forthcoming "Matrix 2" respectively.
Butler
says she was given absolutely no training for her ultra-physical role of
a NYPD homicide cop in the TNT "Witchblade" movie and its current spin-off
series.
"That's
the difference between films and television," she says. "I don't prefer
one form over the other, but it would undoubtedly look better if I had
had a chance to learn what I was doing -- and it certainly would be better
if I didn't have so many bruises. I like doing my own stunts, but eventually,
you're going to get hurt. It's par for the course; I can't tell you how
many nights I've limped away from the set. Of course, you can get hurt
in movies, too -- but they give you time to lick your wounds ... on my
series we just keep going."
