I wrote this transcript for a deaf fan, but I figured I might as well put it on the site. 

For a while on the Movieguy website Yancy welcomed you by saying: 

"Hi, this is Yancy Butler with Witchblade on TNT and... I love Chuck the movieguy!"
 

Now, the interview itself. In her destinctive husky voice!

Chuck's first to speak: "Yancy!!"

YB: "Chuck the movieguy!"  she acks him.

CK: "How are you?"

YB: "Im doing well, how are you doing?"

CK: "Im just really excited to be talking to you..."

YB: "Oh, thank you so much!"

CK: "Well, you know, here's what happened okay. All the TV shows were over...didnt know what was going on...and suddenly I see this advertisement for this new show called WitchBlade and I'm thinking: No! Im not going to watch another show... Im not going to get addicted!...

YB: {Laughs} "I know! You don't wanna get hooked on anything else, I understand."

CK: "It took like, what, 20 minutes into this show before Im like... Im hooked!"

YB: "Oh, you dig it!?!?"

CK: "Oh, absolutely!"

YB: "Ah Chuck, Im so glad!!"

CK: "And you know what? I'm also... I subscribe to the Gauntlet now... I get my email that tells me...."

YB: "Are you... are you a Witchblade wielder?"

CK: {sigh} "Yes, I am."

YB: {Husky laughs} 

CK: "I need help Yancy!"

YB: "You're a self-admitting Witchblade wielder!"

CK: "I need help. I tell you what, its just a great story. Why dont you tell us what Witchblade is about!?"

YB: "Well basically... its based on the comicbook thats been in circulation for about 3 or 4 years now I think. And I play detective Sara Pezzini of the homocide department of the NYPD. And we started our story within a shootout... at the cloisters I find myself donning this bracelet. AKA the Witchblade that, uh, gives her certain visions and turns into the weapons de-jour and... its a great story."

CK: "Yeah, I know, and one of the things too is... what I like about it is you are clueless to whats going on. And...

YB: "You know what I like... I totally... I actually said this in an interview the other day that I liken myself to... Im taking the ride with the audience. Do you know what I mean? And thats a different thing that I dont know really anything about this thing."

CK: "Yeah, and there's these group of... Id like to call them Evil People in there that are kinda, they know whats going on, but they wont tell you and they... I think theres some kinda...

YB: {Yancy laughs}

CK: "... they wanna use the power of the WBlade for their own somehow"

YB: "I know. {Still laughing} ... Im laughing Chuck, cause you actually have quite an amazing intellectual (searchs for the right words a bit) ...taking on our story, thats exactly... the people are coming out of the woodwork and saying: {in a sing-songy voice} "I know something that you dont!"  And then they run away! And Im not quite sure why that's happening."

CK: Yeah, and its also like these guys... also they are helping you at the same time but, they are also hurting the story-line and I wanna say one other thing too about uh the characters in the movie...

YB: "Sure"

CK: "Im so glad that they gave you a love interest because I was beginning to think your character had like a cold heart, and I'm thinking you know... I dont think I like her that much.

YB: "I... you know whats amazing is that I said to our exec producer, Ralph Hemecker, whos amazing... our showrunner and our writer, I said: You know what? She doesnt have a girlfriend she goes shopping with... she doesnt, you know... she either needs to get a turtle, a puppy, or a boyfriend... albeit briefly... but she needs something that you see her giggle. It was important to see her be human and giggle because, you know... hence the reason I dont get a lot of dates Chuck. People either think Im really bitter and angry or Im just gonna... you know... kick the living crap outta them!" So, we needed something that made her a bit more human, and yeah, the love interest is a great througline.

CK: "And I was worried too because I think it was when we first met the character's love interest we thought that she was falling in love with like an evil person and as it turns out everything worked out okay.

YB: "Yeah! Well... yeah."

CK: "Now, is something going on with tonights episode?"

YB: "Uh, its actually... it is today Monday, its tommorow night... uhm, no we're tonight I think we're uh.. good!"

CK: "I know somethings gonna happen because nothing would ever..."

YB: "OH! You know what!? Im wrong, Im sorry... I lost track. Tonight... let me just say that like most things that my character loves they tend to screw up... or go away. So uhm... Yeah. So tonight you're actually in for great ride!"

CK: "And there's also too, I mean, this is uh... I consider this... this is a sci-fi show is it not?"

YB: "I think so! I think with the special effects it can be definitely catogorized as such."

CK: "One thing thats interesting too is the WBlade itself its got a great history... some of the greatest women

YB: "Of all time..."

CK: "Yeah, have worn the WBlade. And for the people that have not watched the show yet... The Witchblade can only be worn on women... it actually has kinda like a mind of its own does it not?"

YB: "It does. It actually comes up when she leasts expects it or wants it... which can be embarrisingly, almost comically funny. So..."

CK: "I know, its like ... if you remember the tokens... the ring of power would be.."

YB: "I do rem.... Yes! Of course!"

CK: "Yeah, it would slip of the finger when it was least needed"

YB: {Laughs}

CK: "Now, if I remember correctly from... did you take any kind of gymnastics? Or a gymnastic background or am I imagining that?"

YB: "Uhm... I took gymnastics at the YMCA or... the YWCA in New York when I was about seven, but... no I havent really trained for this kind of genre that has graciously fallen in my lap.

CK: "Because I remember something on Mann & machine... in the press kit ... that you had some gymnastic background or something... And your stunt person goes through quite a lot cause this is a big action show!

YB: "Its a huge action show! And whats amazing is that she is incredible and for some reason they say well... can you kinda do everything that she just did? And I try... and then either I fail misirably, you know, publically... or I just take a lot of baths! So, you know, its been extensive ... but its looks great.

CK: "Right. And just the fact that every week there is something more that we dont know about the character, and like you said we find out when you're character finds out. It's really a great show..."

YB: "Thank you Chuck!"

CK: "And its only on TNT?"

YB: "Its only on TNT as of now."

CK: Its on a coupla different times, cause I know they had a big marathon the other weekend."

YB: "YEah, which was not... it actually wasnt higly publisized and we still got great numbers for that ... and I mean when we were on last year for our two hour pilot, we were like the number one biggest cable movie off all time or whatever... 

CK: "It rocked!"

YB: "I know. It was amazing and hence they picked it up as a series and we've been getting amazing for... you know, for summertime when it is still light outside and people are still staying in their homes watching it. So its really great."

CK: "Your not surprised at all... I mean, I wasnt surprised... soon as I saw it I was preaching about the show and going. Oh man! Especially the perfect timing... there is nothing else on TV."

YB: "Exactly."

CK: "And now you can get hooked on the storyline and youll never go anywhere else."

YB: "I know. And even given... if there was like a million things on TV... its a really great show. I mean Chuck Ive worked ... Ive been number one on a series before and in movies and ...this is a really great show."

CK: "Im hooked"

YB: "Because its intellectually dense. It has action, It has amazing special effects.

CK: "Some of those special effects are pretty incredible!"

YB: "Oh, they're amazing! And they gotta be putting money into people like Roger Daltrey who we had as a guest star last week! Its a really innovative show.

CK: "I was like..hey, wait a minute, thats Roger Daltrey."

YB: "I knoW! Was that not cool or what?"

CK: "I think this show is gonna build up a fan base and you're gonna have more and more people who wanna be on the show because it is just so awesome!"

YB: "Its incredible".

CK: "Well... Yancy, thank you so much and we'll be watching tonight on TNT... its Witchblade!"

YB: "Thank you Chuck, so much!  Chuck, I really dig... but your the first person that has actually asked like... seriously intellectual questions and about the character lines and about what this thing actually is..."

CK: "Well I do a lot of ... I mean IM a sci-fi nut and I do a lot of work with like sci-fi websites and they were all ...I mean jacked that I was talking to you..."

YB: "Oh cool! Thank you so much!"

CK: "So... Im just ... its such a great job so, so dark... and I really like your character's darkness because you portray it so well cause its just like ... you're ticked off at the world or whatever ... and what happened to your partner. And it shows!"

YB: "Well exactly...and the cool thing is that again our...our show runner... thats why I said that we needed some comic relief or some love relief you know... we needed..."

CK: "And at first when they brought in your character Jake I thought that..okay, what are they doing here? They're bringing in some surver guy..."

YB: "But isnt it perfect!"

CK: "Yeah I know...its now its like a nice balance. Im like, okay... with you they didnt go the route I wanted them to go. And now theres a great little balance happening on the show.

YB: "Its really... David Chokachi is incredible. I mean, its a great kind of Sam and Diane thing.. are they ever gonna get together or are they not. I mean we have so many elements in this show... its really, really multileveled. Its exciting!"

CK: "Well thank you so much..."

YB: "Thank you Chuck"

CK: "Success..."

YB: "Thanks a lot!"

CK: "Bye!"

YB: "Bye!"   ..... 

As they put down the phone Yancy says: "What a sweet guy.." to somebody else on her side.
