California's Route 107

Route 107 is from Route 1 near Torrance to Route 405 near Culver City. {CS&HC Sec. 407. 1964}

Upon a determination by the commission that it is in the best interests of the state to do so, the commission may, upon terms and conditions approved by it, relinquish a portion of Route 107 that is in the City of Lawndale to that city, if the city has agreed to accept it. The relinquishment shall be effective on the date immediately following the commission's approval of the terms and conditions. {CS&HC Sec. 407.1}

Route 107 is from Route 1 near Torrance to the southern city limits of Lawndale. [CS&HC Sec. 407(a)]

The relinquished former portion of Route 107 in the City of Lawndale is not a state highway and is not eligible for adoption under Section 81. [CS&HC Sec. 407(b)]

    History

  • 1965: Portion from Route 405 in Lawndale to Route 405 in Culver City deleted. It was planned as a freeway.
  • September 28, 1998: AB 2132 chaptered, permitting the relinquishment of Route 107 in Lawndale.
  • September 25, 2003: AB 1717 chaptered, acknowledging said relinquishment; portion from the southern city limit of Lawndale at Redondo Beach Boulevard to Route 405 in Lawndale deleted.

    For the ravenous shopper in all of us, the South Bay Galleria is on Route 107 at Artesia Boulevard (former Route 91). It boasts of more than 140 shops and restaurants.
