A Debutante ball is
traditionally a means of presenting a young lady of 16- 18 years of age
to society. These days a lot of Australian High schools hold Deb. Balls
mainly for girls in Year 11, and although they don't really have the same
meaning as they used to most of the old traditions are continued.
The Ball begins with the
formality of each of the girls & their partners being presented to
the guests in turn, usually as each couple walk the length of the Ballroom
or Hall an MC may talk a little about the girls dress and also what she
likes to do in her spare time. Once all the girls have been presented the
group moves into a formation and complete 2 or 3 formal dances, this is
basically it for the official part of the proceedings. The dances are usually
followed by a sit down meal & more free style dancing for everyone.

The whole group including
attendants - flowergirls & pageboys (I'm
