planetarian ~the reverie of a little planet~ is a Kinetic Novel made by Key. Key is a Japanese game company that produced a lot of great visual novel games such as Kanon, AIR, & CLANNAD. After CLANNAD, planetarian was released next.
Kinetic Novel is basically a short visual novel where you just click & read. There are no selections you need to make like those dating simulation games. Think of it as reading a paperback novel. Kinetic Novel is also the company name that made planetarian. This Kinetic Novel isn't too highly known outside of Japan & Asia. I only managed to find 1 English website that talks about planetarian. Because of this, I believe this visual novel should desire some attention.
To those not familiar with this Key work, planetarian involves no choice selection for the user to do. You just sit back & read. It's best not to call this a game since you don't do anything. This isn't an ero-novel, so there's no hentai or nudity scenes. Although it's suitable for all ages, planetarian is probably best suited for a mature audience due to it's deep storyline & theme. It was originally available to download from Key's Kinetic Novel website for a price back in December 2004. It was later re-released on CD with voices as a limited edition on April 2006. In August 2006, a PS2 version is released by PROTOTYPE. The PS2 version comes with a script book of the visual novel as a bonus.
This special planetarian ~the reverie of a little planet~ section is to show my support for its amazing storyline & I want people to try this out; especially people that liked Kanon & AIR. Although there is no English version of the novel, a fansub group called insani has made a translation patch to the full commercial Japanese novel. They even have a English fansub translated demo available for those wondering if they should pick planetarian up.
