Storyline (CONTAINS SPOILERS) Below is a summary of the storyline. This section does contain some spoilers. If you haven't seen the series yet & don't want to be spoiled, skip this section. If you want to know the story & want to see how I viewed it, read on. As mentioned above, this is basically a bunch of side stories put together. There is no direct link to each other. If you have seen the OVA version, the first first episodes are the same as the TV version. Except some parts have been cut out to fit the TV slot time. Read review about the OVA here since the two versions are pretty much the same. Unlike the OVA, the TV version more in-depth about the doujinshi world. It tells the audiences how life in the doujinshi world is. But like the OVA, there are no direct link between episodes & a lot of it is comedy based. Also, there are the usual "rip-off" elements that the show takes from other anime series. For example, they have Prince of Tennis themes & Card Captor Sakura-like characters in the show. In the last two episodes, the show touches on Kazuki's doujinshi situation. He doesn't know if he should continue doing doujinshi. In episode 12, he gets some ideas how professional manga & doujinshi careers are different & similar. In the final episode, Kazuki gets moved up to Kade level; meaning he gets a wall spot in the next ComiPa. Unsure & feeling pressured by friends expecting him to do go on his next manuscript, he gets possessed by a evil spirit that takes the form of Misuki & encourages him to do oil painting instead. However, he breaks out of it when he realizes what he should do. As the ending credits roll, we see Kazuki doing well at his booth. From the sign of things, it's possible that another show will appear in this series in the future. |

My Personal Review Comic Party Revolution is more like the OVA released months before this TV show, but extended. The show is quite enjoyable, but I felt it dragged a bit too long since it got no real story to it. This is more of a show to just sit back & enjoy. Even though it shows the viewers the doujinshi world, it may not be interesting to people. Since you will need to watch Comic Party before this show, you are most likely interested in that world. Animation The drawings are pretty good in my opinion. It seems a bit different from the first TV series & more colourful too. The backgrounds were colourful that it clashed with the characters a bit. Overall, I felt it was above average. An interesting thing to mention is the drawings are different in some episodes. You may notice how some of the character designs seem a bit different. In fact, they are different as some of the episodes are designed by different teams. I have no idea why this is done. Sound The sound effect were okay as most of them were kind of cute. For example, the bullets being shot out of the air gun had cute popping sounds. For the background music, it fitted the scenes well. It created the mood pretty solid. I was surprised that the opening & ending theme songs are the same from the OVA version in terms of their song lengths. Usually, opening & ending theme songs are 1.5 minutes long. Here, the songs are played for over two minutes long. Sometimes, I feel the songs are actually played at their full lengths. The voice actors here are the same as previous Comic Party series. No changes in the voices which was good in most cases if you didn't like some of the voices from the past series. Story Although it was mainly side stories, Comic Party Revolution did a nice job in telling them. It's mainly to watch & enjoy really. No worries about what the storyline is. They were funny & enjoyable. It was only at the last 2 episodes do we see something plot developing. Overall Conclusion Comic Party Revolution was an average series with no main storyline. Unlike the OVA version, you probably need to watch Comic Party to understand this series since it talks more about the characters' backgrounds. The series was fun to watch, but it won't leave a memory in your head about its short stories. Like the OVA version, Comic Party Revolution gets a 7.5 from me. It's mainly because it's a series with no major storyline. This series is nothing more than pure entertainment with some educational bits about the doujinshi world. People interested about the Japanese doujunshi world will enjoy this. Those without this interest may find the show boring. |
