Introduction When I first heard about this cloth changing Saber, I didn't know what it was. Price looked good, but I didn't know if it's a cloth changing figuring like a Barbie or something. When I finally got to see pics of it, I was a bit iffy about it. Ended up preordering it for some strange reason. Saber is still in the box since I don't have room to display her at this time. In fact, I probably won't. Some of the pictures aren't clear & good. If I have time, I'll redo the bad ones & repost them. |

The Review Not an appealling box. It looks like a box used to package a set of silverware to me. It's very plain & almost like a bootleg product. Enough of the box, let's go to the details. Saber comes with all the accessories you see in the box. She has three different types of clothing: her one piece white swimsuit, her casual dress, & her battle dress armour. Also included is Excalibur, its sheath, & a stick of oden. Nothing much really as it's pretty plain. Plus, I don't think Saber is poseable. She stands the way you see her. This is mainly because of her clothing. To put it on her, you need to open the clothing apart from the sides & sandwich her body in-between. The same can be said for the footwear. My first impression when I got this Saber figurine in my hands is that it's a toy. It's quite cheap looking. But I'm impressed with the paint job & molding. Observe the fine paint work on the armour. Very minor bleeds & it looks very fine. Even Excalibur is impressive. The molding work on the boots us very good as the shape is clean with little to no off-shaping. The oden is well painted with the shading & toning it has, although I don't know what oden is made of. Overall, I'm impressed on the workmanship on this toy. As for the holes in Saber's hands, I don't know how aligned they are with the armour. I'm not sure if the hole is a clean one or has some shaping problems where putting the accessories in her hands would be problematic. Also, I don't know how smooth the accessories will go into Saber's hands & how deep they will go through. Plus, I don't know how easy it is to take apart the clothing & footwear & how good it will fit onto Saber's body. This isn't the kind of face that I'm use to seeing Saber. It's looks a bit angry due to her sharp eyebrows & dumbfounded due to her facial look. However, the expression does have that Saber character to it. The strict face that you see in the game. The size of her head seems big when you look at her thin body in that swimsuit. But I have a feeling that when you put some clothes on her, it will balance out; especially with the armour. But it's hard to tell without actually trying it. |

Overall Conclusion This version of Saber isn't something you would want to get really. It's really like a toy that use for display only & the idea of changing clothes is not an interesting idea that I thought it was. On a scale of ten, Saber Cloth Change receives a 6.5. As stated, it's pretty much a toy & quite cheap looking. It's not poseable & there's very few accessories for Saber. The workmanship in the painting & molding areas are pretty good on the other hand. For the price of this Saber, I would probably get two or three Pinkys for it instead. This Saber isn't something Saber fans would want unless they are really diehard fans. I would recommend staying away from this figurine & spend your money on different, bigger, & interesting Saber figurines that are available out there. If you insist on getting this one, there are a lot of stores that still carry it at the suggested retail price. There are way cheaper ones out there, but I think those are bootlegs since the sellers are mainly from China or Hong Kong. I would really stay away from those. |
