Introduction

I preordered this Rin Tohsaka Name Case with the Saber Name Case from YesAsia.  Name cases are basically business card cases.  For some reason, I've always wanted a business card case.  Not too sure why.  Probably because it's cool or something.  Anyways, I was planning to use them when I'm going to anime conventions for my anime business.  But, I've decided to close my business in 2008 since I don't have time anymore.  This is the first time I own a name case & a COSPA product.

The Review

Rin Tohsaka Name Case

Click on the thumbnail & you will get the actual size of the name case.  The way it was packaged was poor in terms of marketing.  It made it look like a bootlegged product.  It was in a plastic bag  & sealed on top with a white plastic with a hole at the top to allow it to hang on a display hook.  There was no logo or the word COSPA anywhere.  Since this is my first time getting a COSPA product, I didn't know if this was real or not.  Luckily, the TYPE-MOON official product sticker logo was on the back with the suggestive retail price & UPC sticker.  So it's a real product.

The material of the name case is metal.  It's not very light, but I think it's aluminum.  Most name cases I seen are made from that material.  I haven't taken it out of the package yet, so I don't know how durable this case is.  However, it will fit any normal sized business cards.  How many card it can carry is unknown.

As for the design, it's mainly on the cover.  From the looks of it, I think the paint will come off if the case is heavily used or gets scratched a lot.  The design looks new to me, so I think this is new original artwork.  It's based on the game's designs & really has Rin's elegant charm.  From a personal standpoint, this is a cool case to use.  From a professional standpoint, you shouldn't use this as it isn't professional looking when you pull a business card out of it in front of your client..  Unless you work in an industry that involves anime, this would be acceptable to a certain level.

Overall Conclusion

Can't really grade this Rin Tohsaka Name Case since it's still in the packaging.  Design wise it looks great.  In terms of how well it serves its purpose is questionable.

TYPE-MOON & Fate fans would probably scramble to get this, but there isn't a real need for it.  Unless you work in an anime related business, this isn't very professional to use.  I don't see any other use of this besides carrying your business cards & possibly your credit/plastic cards.  Very little people have name cards for personal use.  So, this is mainly a collector's item with no useful purpose. 

Getting this will be a problem.  I haven't found any stores carrying this since I got it.  Personally, I don't think there will be a price value increase on this.  Price markdowns will be more likely.
