Introduction When I saw this Palm Scenery Characters Saber & Shiroh Set, I wanted it cause it looked cute. I brought it the day it was released from an HobbyLink Japan. I believe these sold out after a couple of months & were re-released half a year later. Some of the pictures aren't clear & good. If I have time, I'll redo the bad ones & repost them. |

The Review
The Palm Scenery Characters Saber & Shiroh come in a larger than usual box for a Palm Scenery Character product. They usually come in trading figure boxes. Accessories that come with the figures are two clear small bases, Excalibur, a ladle, & a kendo stick. I believe the figures can stand well without the bases. Saber & Shiroh can move their arms up & down only. For Saber, I think she can move both while Shiroh only moves his right arm. The wrists are moveable too. The poses here aren't too bad. Pretty much static poses. Luckily, you can adjust them. But it wouldn't do too much really. Can't really say much about the paint job. As you can see, the clothes don't have any special patterns or design on them. So it's pretty much solid throughout. The paint job on the accessories is pretty good. Look at Excalibur. The details on it are pretty well done for something that small. Although there are some unevenness & bleeding, the red & blue is really well done. The ladle is pretty solid with a little bleeding on the silver & the kendo stick is solid as well.
The paint job on the faces of Saber & Shiroh isn't too bad. Shiroh's eye, however, seem a bit dirty in the white parts. Aside from minor bleeding, the faces are well done. As for facial expressions, they match Saber & Shiroh's characters perfectly. Although they have strict faces here, that's how their characters are suppose to be. |

Overall Conclusion The Palm Scenery Characters Saber & Shiroh set isn't too bad at that Japanese retail price. The figures are cute & well done for its size. They perfectly portray the characters well. Currently, I have them in a display case & never put them back into their box. On a scale of ten, I give the Palm Scenery Characters Saber & Shiroh set an eight. The high points were from the detailed work in the paint job department for something that small & the accessories included. The lost points is mainly from the poses & the limitation you can do with them. It would have been nice if they came with a mini display case like the other figures in the Palm Scenery Characters lineup. At that Japanese retail price, the Palm Scenery Characters Saber & Shiroh set isn't a bad deal. Palm Scenery Characters usually sell at the ¥500 mark or a bit higher. But they come with a mini display case, while this one doesn't. Finding this set is hard now since these are old. However, the collector's market price for these isn't high since they aren't really in demand. But, beware of the bootleg version out there. |
