The "Muskoka Offshoots"

Annual Workshop, February 7 & 8, 2004

As usual, the weather threatened, but Sarah Kern brought her fabulous willow expertise and participants had the tough decision of trying to decide which shape to make. Some chose round & some oval, no one attempted the triangle or square. By lunchtime we had our bottoms done and most of us went home with an inch woven up the sides. One comment I overheard was that "it doesn't look like much for a full days work!" We had our day cut out for us on Sunday.

By 4 pm on Sunday, everyone had finished their masterpiece! Some were surprised with just how fantastic their piece looked. This can be attributed to Sarah's patience and her great teaching skills. All and all, it was a great workshop, the annual getting together of like-minded Muskokans experiencing and learning something new, sharing experiences, catching up and having fun.

Fall Miniworkshop

In mid-October a group of Offshooters gathered again to make miniature pieces - jewellery, art and functional - under the direction of Carolyn Houlden. Participants used copper foil and birch bark to create several pieces each.
