 form Major or Minor, built from the 7 scale tones as roots.

 Stopped in the next lowest fret #, R or Roots,
are seen immediately above all ^ in grid. 
 M= Major 3rd ... & m=minor 3rd
 U = (perfect) 5th 
 u=5th in minor forms and the chord built on the 7th scale tone
has a b5

 A IV form may include a Minor third stop, (m) for (iv).
The tilde (~) indicates chords "7th" option from any 
available stop, in its appropriate Major (I, IV) or the b7 in 
remaining Dominant (V7) or Minor form.  As the Grips start with
each higher Fret position , the 7th will be stopped with a different
finger than the Root's adjacent Grip.
