In the year 2013 is fourteenth year of existence of SMK Bako which is located about 35 kilometers from Kuching city center. The school consist of 102 teachers. Most of the students live in the dorm because some of them live in kampung Beradik and kampung Semilang. Both of these villages do not have road and only can be contact by using water transport. The student are allowed to return to their village at weekend or twice in a month. Daily student are mostly living in kampung Bako, Muara Tebas, Gobeilt, Senari, Sejingkat, and Selabat. The local community that live in this area work as a fisherman. Yet there are some who work in the public and private sectors. Although they live in rather modest but their parent encourage and never give up to send their children study in smk Bako. In the past, the site smk Bako was a dense forest. Some people do not event think of this are can be developed in a short period. smk Bako lacated near to the famous hill that are knowing as "Endou". According to local society living at this area the hill is called as Endou because they always saw ghostly apparitions. Now everything change, the process of modernization of education has given priority to children of the village. Therefore, the government already taken the right step by developing a school that is considered more important to the interest of the future. The hill Endou have been immortalized as the name of smk Bako magazine which has now come up with the twelve edition. The land for constructing this school with an area of 20 hectares, smk Bako has the administration block, assembly hall (now known as Endou Hall), dining hall, surau, game courts, a football field, 24 classrooms, 25 teachers houses, 4 blocks of student hostels, and some other special rooms such as science laboratories, computer rooms, a resource room, guidance and counselling, engineering workshop, agricultural workshops and life skills workshops
