Hello! My name is Trent Bain. I play many musical instruments and have taken many lessons from many different teachers since when I was young. I know exactly what it’s like to be a hyper kid dealing with boring music classes. The desire to learn and play music but there, but sometimes I just couldn’t be bothered to focus and give my all when I didn’t want to be there in the lesson being barked at for an hour. My mission is to be the kind of music teacher that your kid will gain and love and understanding from while having fun.

Your kid isn’t likely to stick with or care about playing an instrument if they don’t have the passion. Passion is something that I think everyone has and develops over time but can be easily killed off by boredom. Believe it or not, there isn’t a set way to learn music. Musical skills and concepts often overlap. It is very possible for your child to learn meaningful musical skills while freely learning what they want to learn or what they’re interested in. When your child finds ways to use their instruments that they enjoy and are interesting to them, they are likely to develop a passion for music that will help them learn more technical and tedious skills.

Music should be fun, but it can also help your kid's future:

All of the subjects I teach can overlap with a lot of other important music skills and may provide great college opportunities.

Violin and Viola are very similar in technique and both be picked up simultaneously. Viola players are always needed, especially at Universities, and competetion is relatively low!

Clarinet and Saxophone are very similar instruments and can also be learned simultaneously. They both build incredible basic music skills, and also have definite places in college orchestras.

Students can gain significant scholarships or get paid for playing in orchestras with the skills they learn, which makes them all great choices for kids considering college.
