Chapter 3: SHOW TIME!!!
They arrived at the SkyDome and quickly found their seats. Mel noticed that these must have been the best seats left. She could see the entire stage and no one was sitting in front of them so, if she was to take pictures, which was a definate thing, no heads would be in the way.
"Man, this is amazing! Jenn and Jo are gonna love the pics!" Mel said to Manda who was in shock.
"I'm gonna love this concert!" Manda exclaimed as the house lights go down and everyone started screaming.
The six man band came up on the stage with the dancers following them and the music to "Star Wars" could be heard throughout the stadium.
Manda poked Mel in the ribs. "Ouch! That hurt!!" Mel yelped holding her side.
"Yeah, well the pain will be gone in a sec!" she said as she pointed to the black box the guys where coming out of. The boys landed on the stage and finished each song with perfection. The songs included: Larger Than Life, Get Down, The One, As Long As You Love Me, Don’t Wanna Lose You Now, Quit Playing Games, Don’t Want You Back, Perfect Fan, Back To Your Heart, Everybody, We've Got It Going On, That’s TheWay I Like It, Spanish Eyes, I'll Never Break Your Heart, No One Else Comes Close, All I Have To Give, and Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely.
After those songs, some people thought the concert was over, and they left, but the band kept playing a sweet little melody. Mel then heard them start to play the music to "It’s Gotta Be You" and the audience started to sing along. Mel could hear AJ singing too!
"Yo, isn’t that AJ's voice??" Mel asks Manda.
"Yeah, I think..."she trailed off and looked back to the stage and started to scream.
Mel turned her attention back to the stage and noticed that the rest of the guys were on the stage with AJ. They were doing their encores. They were: It’s Gotta Be You and I Want It That Way. Right after, each Boy took the time to thank the crowd.
AJ was the first one to thank the crowd. "Hey Y'all!! Thanks for coming to the very last 'Into The Millennium' Concert! So, until the next show, PEACE OUT!!!!!" he yelled over the screams.
"HEY! How are all of you tonight???" Howie asked as the crowd screamed in response. Howie nodded in approval. "Terrific! I’m glad you all enjoyed the show and well one last thing before I go. KEEP THE BACKSTREET PRIDE ALIVE IN THE NEW MILLENNIUM! Thank you for all your support, we love ya! SEE YA LATER!!"
Brian was next to address the crowd. He walked around the stage with a basketball in his hands. "WOW what can I say?? You guys are the best!! Thank you soooo much for all your love and support! Later Y'all!!" Brian thanked as he waved to the crowd making them scream even more.
"I just wanna say thank you for all your support over the years! You are why we keep coming back!! Well until next time Toronto, always remember YOU ARE LARGER THAN LIFE!!! BYE!!" Kevin said as he threw something out into the crowd.
Nick was the last one to address the crowd. "WOW, I guess they keep the best for last! HEHE! Just kiddin'! Well for all you french fans, Je t'aime!! Just a little piece of information before I hand this to Tarzan Dan of KISS92 fm, Live Life To The Fullest For The Future Is Scarce! Thank you for all your love and support! BYE!" Nick said as Tarzan Dan came up on stage.
Tarzan Dan waved to the crowd. "Hey! Was that a great show or what?" he asked the crowd which was met with screams. "Ok, I hope none of you are thinking of leaving yet because I want everyone to take out their ticket stubs. Here's the deal. Seven lucky fans will have the chance to go backstage and meet the Backstreet Boys in person! Are you ready? Alright, here we go!" Tarzan Dan said as the whole venue became silent for the first time that evening.
They were all waiting for the numbers to be annouced. As the first four tickets were called, each ticket holder screamed in delight. Mel looked nervously over at Manda.
"Oh God," Manda whispered. Her ticket was called. Manda looked over at Mel.She wasn't sure if she should go and leave Mel.
"Hey, go on. This is a once in a lifetime chance," Mel said as she forced a smile to show that she was ok with her friend going backstage. But, she secretly wished that it was her ticket that was called.
The next two tickets were called and they were followed by more screams. "Ok, this is our final ticket. Thanks for staying and partcipating!" Tarzan Dan said as he continued to call out the last ticket.
Mel was praying that it was her ticket that was being called. She looked down at her ticket and began screaming. Her ticket was called. "Manda! I'm coming with you!! AHHH!!!" Mel managed to scream.
Manda shook her head with a smile. "Yeah, I kinda guessed from the way you were screaming," she said to her starstruck friend. Meanwhile, Tarzan Dan was telling the lucky winners how to get backstage.
