And The Legend of The Lavender Derby
However, before the legend of the Derby's beginnings could be told, Baba Ganoush's father passed away and the secrets of the Lavender Derby were lost. Baba took up his father's trade, becoming a tenth generation grape squasher, until he became too old to continue. At that time, Baba Ganoush made his way toward the United States where his troubles would begin.
After meeting another obviously foreign person at the bus depot, named Mentel, the pair broke into a house, hoping to live there. By a miracle, the phone rang. It was word from Baba's country that a GRAPE CRISIS had begun! Remembering an advertisement he saw at the bus depot, Baba Ganoush instated the help of the all-powerful Wiseman Wiseman to assist in rectifying the crisis.
After some confusion, the Wiseman Wiseman transported them all back to his tower of Glee, where a magical ritual took place, in which the GRAPE CRISIS was averted and Ukraine was saved! The Wiseman transported Baba and Mentel back to their home, but Mentel demanded to know the exact whereabouts of the Wiseman in case they needed his aid in the future. Taking off for the Highlands of Wisconsin, Mentel was gone for now. Baba Ganoush was left vulnerable. An odd little man by the name of Hubert invaded the house and began demanding Baba Ganoush's Derby.
Baba Ganoush, still unaware of the origins of his hat, refused to give it up for simple emotional reasons. Hubert brandished a deadly Acursed Squash Racket at Baba Ganoush and challenged the Ukrainian to a game of Squash. Taking offense, Baba tossed a sock at Hubert in retort and a grand battle began. In the end, the power of Baba's Lavender Derby transformed him into ULTRA BABA and Hubert was nearly killed. Resorting to a dark disappearing trick, Baba was left stunned over what had occurred. The mark of Wiseman Wiseman appeared in the form of a toilet paper roll and Baba made haste to find either him or Hubert.
Stopping in a quiet backyard along the way, Baba constructed an altar for his hat. Now realizing that it possessed some power (though still clueless as to how much and how to use it). Mentel arrived, asking what Ganoush was up to. Before long, a revivified Hubert swooped in for an attack and another battle for the Derby began. Mentel, though thought to be an ally of Ganoush, began to assist Hubert and at one point tried to take the power of the Derby and the Peanut Butter Monkey for himself. In the end, Ganoush was victorious once more and Hubert made a hasty retreat. Mentel slinked away quietly, his alliance still questionable.
