The History of Baba Ganoush Online
Baba Ganoush himself has simplistic beginnings. It all started one evening as "The Producers", as I like to call our little film group, were going crazy with filming things. We had just completed the "Good" and "Bad Santa" stories a few weeks before Christmas in 2002. We were taking a break when we started trying on some different stuff laying around my grandmothers old abandoned house (which is where we did a lot of our filming in 2002 and early 2003). The combination Edward came up with, the wig, red santa pants, festive shirt, boots, glasses and of course the hat, became the prototype to Baba Ganoush. We liked the way it looked so much, we decided to do a short story to showcase the funny little costume.

We debated for a moment and decided to go with a sort of "comedy" type of thing, in which a totally ridiculous crisis of some sort must be averted. This became the "GRAPE CRISIS!" episode. The first Baba Ganoush story ever. We each came up with our own names. I know my Wiseman Wiseman name was influenced by one of my favorite Anime villains ever. I'm not entirely sure where Edward pulled Baba Ganoush from, but it was the perfect name. Chris donned his Mentel costume (which thus far has remained the same throughout) and I got my Wiseman costume together and we began rolling.

The character of Baba Ganoush has been mostly unchanged from the first incarnation. His voice has mainly stayed the same as has his demeanor. The costume has changed each time we film, the only consistancy being between the Rivalry with Hubert and Altar episodes, in which Baba's costume was the same.

Much like the first episode, the second episode also came about during a lull in filming. Half of The Producers had to run some errands, but planned to return. While myself and Edward sat alone, we decided to do a second installment of Baba Ganoush, this time introducing a new character whose costume matched Baba's in hilarity. I decided to name him Hubert, another reference to a favorite TV character. The Rivalry With Hubert episode paired Baba with the perfect foil. Hubert has remained unchanged since his debut. We hungered for more Baba.

During the summer of 2003, we filmed the Altar of the Lavender Derby. The episode did not grant us the fix we wanted and it's probably the least entertaining of the Baba Ganoush series. We had to do something better. In spring of 2004, we filmed for nearly a full day to complete only half of Baba's most grand adventure yet "Baba Ganoush in the Enchanted Forest." This installment introduced several new characters to the Baba Ganoush universe, including Hunter Bob, Princess Dainty, Goob and the Shin-Man. It also re-introduced the Wiseman to the series, who hadn't appeared since our initial episode.

The Enchanted Forest is by far the best episode to date, though it remains unfinished thus far. I am hoping to make some plans to finish it with another full day of filming, it's just a matter of getting everyone together for it. But, we are determined to finish it and soon!

I will add more to this section periodically. Stay tuned!
