Black 77, Team Bee-Hive 69
Phil-Am, QC (AP) It was a bad omen when team Bee-Hive players arrived late. And it turned out to be a pretty ugly game.
They might want to start arriving to the game on time and prepared.
Facing the seasoned veterans and the crowd favorite Black Team, Team Bee-Hive were in for it as the opening buzzer sounded. The Black team raced to a big lead early which made team Bee-Hive play catch up for the rest of the game.
Clearly, new comers Aki, Dane and Jaqua were still not yet in to the groove with the Teams set offense and pressure defense. There were some lapses evident in the teams defense as numerous players from the Black Team were able to break the press and shoot uncontested lay-ups on the other end. It was expected, Team Bee-Have consultant, Miguel Balmaceda said.
Mark Dandan torched Team Bee-Have from downtown scoring 6 three point baskets. He also had numerous break away lay-ups which punished Team B for their full court press. His cousin Miko Dandan was a force in the lane. His presence inside the paint forced people attacking the basket to change their shot, causing them to miss most of the time.
In the first half, young gun, Dane Mendoza hesitated to shoot which made it possible for the Black Team to lead as many as 18 points. But as crunch time came he started getting the ball and hit jump shots one after the other drawing the game to an exciting finish. Seasoned Superstar Jon-D Crisol made a boarding 3-pointer with less than two minutes left, cutting down the Black Teams lead to 8. I called board, and it went it, Jon-D said after the game. However mishaps also occurred, with the team down by 6 with 54.3 seconds remaining, team Bee-Hives one and only legit point guard made an errant turnover, faking a shot which not only fooled the Black Team but his teammates as well. Seconds later he again made an ill-advised pass to Mr. Jaqua which resulted to another turnover that sealed the game for the black team. Ask for comments on what happened Mr. Cabayan only said, My bad, Ill make up for it next game.
Two key players from Team Bee-Have also had bad games. Kito Mojica, a.k.a. Fernando Poe did not hit the ring in any of his shots while Sonnie Guerrero also missed open shots he would normally knock down. It was what happened before the game Sonnie said before being interrupted by Bo with a gallon of water Sonnie, wag ka na mag explain.
We had the chance to steal the game, we will get them next time, Mr. Pacheco added. I hope we will. Changes in the lineup and the player rotation are now in the works and being reviewed by Patrick Castillo and Jon-D Crisol.
Notes
Team Bee-Have were without legit big men and handsome hunks, Allen Mangilit (voodoo and dehydration) and Jaime Paraiso (swimming). Both Kito and Bo wore earrings in the game. Kito again was in his usual high. Batch President, Niki Castro was present at the game. Team Bee-Have was clearly out of shape due to the Boracay vacation. Phil-Am resident Nico Agustin gave a huge release of the bench scoring 7 points, including a sweet 3 point shot. SBG present were Japs, Baba and Rockys block mate ahem*EF*ahem. Halata bang wala akong kalala sa kabilang team at panay Team B lang ang recap?
