With the Summer Basketball 2005 already in progress in the Philam Division, and the White Plains chapter about to begin, we here in billy's fanball have decided to come up with our own pre-season 'great' expectations. Below are the projected 8 most probable fantasy studs this summer.

    1. Miggy Silva - No other player will have to shoulder greater responsibility than this guy. Faced with incredible amounts of pressure from significant others and in-laws. Expect this guy to go for a double double each game, 14 and 10 with 3 assists and a couple of steals to boost. His field goal percentage will once again be better than 50 however his free throw is still hanging in the balance. The only way anyone will score more fantasy points than this guy is if he reigns supreme in the foul category yet again.

    2. Mike Delfin - He'll have the ball as much as AI does in Philly. The question is, what will he do with it? He's capable of going for 25 each game while managing to get a team-high 5 assists and a couple of rebounds to boot. Steals are a big upside while his 3 points made may take a serious hit if he decides to screw it and just take it strong each time. Since this is fantasy basketball, we don't really care how well he leads his team to victory just as long as he gets his numbers everytime.

    3. Jaime Paraiso - The only player to get more than 3 double doubles last year. He stymied the defense with his agility and deceiving physicality. He somehow always finds his way to the ball and his form makes it impossible for opposing centers to block. A 14 point 11 rebound performace is expected of him each game together with a block and a steal plus decent shooting numbers make him a viable fantasy option at center.

    4. Aki Unson - The newest addition to the B2004 team, Aki will be expected to fill in the gaps that he was intended to cover with his arrival. That extra pass, another big body in the post, quality rebounds, and tremendous versatility. Though he may not end up reaching double figures in any category, a simple 8 point, 6 rebound, 4 assists per game is enough to elevate him into a top 5 fantasy option.

    5. Chad Pacheco - He actually has all the ingredients to break it into the top 3 if not for the platoon of players that team Beehave actually have waiting to sub him. He's a menace on the glass and may very well be on his way to occasional double double games. Predicting a 12 point, 9 rebounds season with 2 3 point shots per game (very rare to a power forward) is definitely not out of his reach.

    6. Cholo Atienza - Would have been ranked higher if it weren't for his crappy KNOW-your-ROLE attitude. His defensive prowess and eagerness will merit him a decent 2 steal 2 block per game statline that is very rare for ANYONE in the league. Add that with a decent 7 points and 5 boards and you have a Monster in the wings.

    7. Rocky Cabayan - His stealing ability and slashing prowess are his calling card into the fantasy arena. He will give you 3 steals a game and a guaranteed 10 points off the break. Assists are dependent on his timely passes that should not be a surprise to anyone. An 11 point 4 assist 1 rebound can be expected off of him every game.

    8. Paolo Alvendia - After he serves his one game off the bench suspension, he'll most likely be back in the starting 5 and ready to wreak havoc. His tall frame will easily give him rebounds that others wont be able to get and block shots that others wont reach. Book him down for a 10 point 11 rebound average with a block and a three pointer per game, a la mehmet okur.

That's all she wrote! 8 and we're ready!!! Stay tuned if they all lived up to the hype or are just that, hype. Many more articles to come from your favorite fantasy expert, billy's fanball.
