II B 1. Clinical Symptoms


Once his suspicion is aroused, the first thing your pediatrician will check are the clinical symptoms mentioned above. He will ask you to tell him what things you noticed and when. So will every other physician you see from now on. It may seem cruel to put you through this time and again. But it is not out of stupidity or meanness: you know more about your particular child than anybody else - no matter how well schooled - can ever learn. So it makes sense to ask you.

Clinical symptoms are not enough to pinpoint what your child has. There is a spectrum of diseases that show similar symptoms, and within each disease there is a large variation of symptoms.
