Palm Beach Academic Games League

Founded in 1973, the Palm Beach County (Florida) Academic Games League has about 1000 students representing 70 schools competing in the Elementary (5-6), Middle (7-8), and Senior (9-12) divisions. Because of the county's geography, the early rounds of the Elementary Divisions are played at four sites. Later rounds are held at the same site to determine League champions. Follow the link below for the complete schedule for this school year.

Schools may enter any of three seasons. Each season consists of:

  • teacher training sessions
  • a new player practice match (Mathematics and Language Arts only)
  • two or more tournament rounds
  • All sessions are held at 3:30 pm on Tuesdays.

How many students may play for a school?
Schools may enter up to ten individuals in any division in any round of a season (12 individuals in Senior Division). However, a school may enter only ONE team per Division. The other players may play as individuals on the days that they are not part of the team.

Can students qualify for the national tournament?
Each year the Palm Beach Academic Games League is represented at the national tournament by an All-Star team in each Division. Rules for making the team are listed on another page.

    What materials must be purchased?
For the Mathematics season, a school must provide one Equations game for every three players or fraction thereof. For Language Arts a school must provide one LinguiSHTIK game for every three players or fraction thereof. Each school is encouraged to purchase one Propaganda game for reference and study purposes.
