Tour of the South - itineraryDAY 1 Airport
arrival- 140 km taxi ride to the hotel
Your fellow travellers will be arriving at all times from
around the world today, so there are no arranged
activities for the daytime. Our taxi driver will pick you up
at Bangkok Airport. We will hold a meeting in the
evening when everyone arrives. You will get a note at
reception explaining this.
DAY 2 Jomtien Beach - relax, shopping and local ride
We recommend to relax at the pool or the sand beach opposite
the hotel to get rid of jet-lag in the morning.
Alternatively should you consider that you are not
experienced enough, have not ridden for some time or
just wish to ride with a group you can join our two hour
morning ride/training. After you can do some shopping particularly items you might
need on the tour. Pack your things into panniers in the
afternoon. We shall have a dinner together this evening.
DAY 3 Buddhist cave temples and beaches of Western coast of Gulf of Thailand
Your suitcases with items not needed will be deposited at the hotel. After the breakfast we shall ride to Cha Am situated SW of Bangkok. We use
easier route around Bangkok - not so many lorries and less traffic generally. We
shall have to take the ferry across Praya river to avoid
city centre. Between Bangkok and Cha Am we shall stop twice. First to visit Khao Yoi
caves with Buddhist shrines and later we shall take a Swiss
style funicular to the top of the Khao Wang hill to see king Monghut,s royal retreat from 19th century. Arrival at Cha Am (hotel) in late afternoon - still a chance for a swim in the sea or hotel pool.
DAY 4 Beaches and maritime national park
We shall ride to Hua Hin - a popular holiday resort. Shortly after we shall leave the main road and tour through Khao Sam Roi Yod (mountain range with 300 peaks) national park. There we shall take a boat trip around mangrove forests to see
protected wildlife - particularly rare birds, monitor lizards and front legged fish. Arrival at Chumpon (hotel) in late afternoon. Chumpon is famous for seafood.
DAY 5 Surat Thani province and Koh Samui
In the morning we shall ride South on the highway No 4 over the hilly area to Surat Thani where we shall take a car ferry to Samui. The crossing takes 90 minutes. Our resort is on one of the most beautiful beaches - Lamai beach. Experience night life on Samui or take an evening boat to Koh Phangan
to join a full moon party (they are on every night not just
at full moon).
DAY 6 Koh Samui
Day off but plenty things to do on this third biggest island
in Thailand; scuba diving, swimming,
snorkelling, water sports (kayaking, wind surfing, Para-gliding) or sightseeing (waterfalls, mountains ...even bull fighting).
DAY 7 Scenic ride to Krabi
In the morning we shall take the ferry back to mainland and ride South to Nakhon Si Tammarat first (100 km). There we shall turn west through national parks where we shall enjoy winding roads and great sceneries all the way to Krabi (hotel).
DAY 8 Krabi -boat trip around the islands
Today we shall spend a day at the sea. We shall take a small boat (up to 12 persons) around islands. We shall explore sea caves and swim with schools of fish. Rocky islands are ideal for
snorkelling. Alternatively you can take a fast boat to Phi Phi islands.
DAY 9 Pang Nga Bay and Khao Lak
We shall visit Tam Suea temple just outside Krabi in
the morning. Beautiful forests with 600 years old trees and
hermit caves. 1275 steps to the top of the mountain. Great
panoramic view but watch stealing monkeys. In the afternoon
a boat tour around hundreds of islands of Pang Nga Bay
including the island from James Bond movie "The man with
golden gun". After an hours ride to Khao Lak near
Phuket(hotel).
DAY 10 Khao Lak
Free for local rides. DAY 11 Andaman Sea coast, Kra
Isthmus and Ranong mountains
A scenic route along Andaman coast. Winding roads, sand beaches, mangrove forests, mountains and waterfalls. Hot springs in Ranong and a stop at Burmese border at Kra
Isthmus. Arrival at Chumpon (hotel) at about 5 p.m. DAY 12
Chumpon to Cha Am
This time we shall take different route to get to our destination -Cha Am (hotel). Several very picturesque fishermen villages will be along our way.
DAY 13 Cha Am to Jomtien beach
We shall repeat our first touring day the reverse way.
The afternoon
brings us back to our base hotel on Jomtien Beach. Usually
the group has a last farewell dinner this day.
DAY 14
Transfer from Jomtien Beach to Bangkok Airport
Your motorcycle touring holiday is ending today. You will
receive a DVD with photos and video clips of your escapades
during the tour before our taxi picks you up. The time will
be arranged depending on your flight departure. The ride
from the hotel at Jomtien Beach to the airport takes about one hour. We recommend to book an
evening/night flight, giving you an extra day at the end of
your holiday.
