Tour of Cambodia -  itinerary

DAY 1 Airport arrival- 140 km taxi ride to the hotel

Your fellow travellers will be arriving at all times from around the world today, so there are no arranged activities for the daytime. Our taxi driver will pick you up at Bangkok Airport. We will hold a meeting in the evening when everyone arrives. You will get a note at reception explaining this.

DAY 2 Jomtien Beach - relax, and afternoon ride to Aranyaprathet

In the morning you are free to relax and get rid of jet-lag or should you consider that you are not experienced enough, have not ridden for some time or just wish to ride with a group you can join our one hour morning pre-trip ride/training. We shall leave the hotel at 1 p.m. after the lunch. Please pack things not needed on the tour and deposit your suitcases with the bell captain at the time of check out. Afternoon ride to Aranyaprathet (hotel and Thai/Cambodian border crossing) is on a new four lane highway and it takes about four hours (including stops). We shall have a dinner together this evening.

DAY 3 From the border to Angkor Wat

After the breakfast 6 km ride to the border. There we have to do all the formalities (visas for Cambodia, temporary export of motorcycles...). We shall waste about one hour with bureaucracy. Next will be a 130 km ride on dirt road to Siem Reap ( Hotel and Angkor Wat). On the way we shall stop in a small town Sisophon for a lunch. We shall cross about 50 bridges - some in urgent need of repair and arrive at hotel at 5.p.m.

DAY 4 Angkor Wat complex

Today we shall visit Angkor Wat complex. We shall rent bicycles in the town because motorcycles are not officially allowed around temples . You will see many locals riding scooters though. We shall do short tour (30 km) but will visit the most important temples.

DAY 5 Ride to Pnom Penh

The best roads in Cambodia and beautiful scenery. We shall stop for lunch in Kampong Thom and visit the centre of Pnom Penh (Hotel, Silver Pagoda, Royal Palace and Market)..

DAY 6 Killing fields and Cambodian Coast

After the breakfast we shall ride 20 km to the Killing Fields (Choeung Ek). There we shall visit the memorial and the burial grounds. After the lunch we shall ride to the Cambodian Coast - South China Sea. We shall arrive at Sihanoukville at about 4.p.m. giving you time for a swim.

DAY 7 Ride through Elephant and Cardamom mountains

The day will start with 90 km of ride on good asphalt road in direction of Pnom Penh. Then the road branches and 160 km of road under construction over Cardamom mountains follows. Only about ten villages are on the way. Only jungles, jungles... This is definitely not a place to run out of petrol or have a breakdown. On the way we shall cross four major rivers (ferries) and visit magnificent river rapids (excellent for swimming). Accommodation with breakfast in Kro Kong (border town).

DAY 8 Eastern Coast of Thailand

In the morning we shall cross the bridge at Kro Kong and arrive to Thai border after 7 km ride. The road to Jomtien is excellent with a beautiful scenery as we ride along the Eastern coast. Accommodation with breakfast at Jomtien Beach (base hotel).

DAY 9 Jomtien Beach

All day is yours. If you are tired after the tour you can relax by the pool or on the beach, if not you can do some local sightseeing and shopping. Usually the group has a last farewell dinner this day.

DAY 10 Bangkok sightseeing and shopping

In the morning you will receive a CD with photos from the tour before we collect motorcycles and the taxi picks you up  to take you to your next destination-Bangkok hotel. Do not forget Bangkok is a true shopping Mecca so pack light when coming to Thailand.

Day 11 Bangkok-flight departure

Depending on your flight departure you can arrange the taxi to the airport with the hotel reception. Most of the flights to Europe are late at night giving you an extra day in Bangkok. Check out time from the room is at noon but you can ask the hotel for late check out (hotel will not charge you any extra if they are not really fully booked) or you can simply deposit your luggage at the reception for the day. The Airport Departure Tax has been waived so you do not need to keep any Thai money.
