About automating X

In the coming weeks we are going to look at how to go about creating an Excel Database of your Libronix resources. Once you have extracted the data into an Excel file you will be able to sort and filter the data on various fields using Excels built in functions.

In this tutorial I will be using Excel 2000 but you should be able follow this tutorial with out any problems in Excel 97 or XP.

If this is your first time using the VBA editor I recommend you first have a look at VBA Basics in 15 minutes. It refers to the Word/VBA editor but you will be presented with essentially the same editor for Excel/VBA. For first time/new VBA users I am not going to being throwing about lots of technical terms to confuse you. You can easily find another web site with such terms if you want to be confused. My advice is simply stick with it and have fun.

Part 3 - Extracting Metadata from a Resource

Part 4 - Manipulating Your Database Using Excel's Sort and Filter Functions
