Documentation of Development Process

The purpose of the creation of this website was for information purposes on the breed for Australian shepherds. I believe for the most part I achieved that goal in the breed standard, medical, and performance pages. I originally also had a registries and shows page, but time and information were not on my side nor at my disposal for use, so I decided to take it out entirely. I am apart of a registry program for Australian shepherds and had written the breed standard for the registry. So in creating this website, I felt it is because I know a lot about the breed itself.

Defense of the Final Product

I created the logo through photoshop and chose the colors turquoise, grey and black as the colors for the shabby rustic look to accompany the thought of the Australian shepherd. The font is Georgia because I feel it is a cleaner rustic look than the others. I tried to keep it simple not only for the views but for me as well as HTML and CSS is still a big learning curve for me. That is why I kept the navigation in a simple, clean line under the logo on all the pages. I had thought to create a drop-down navigation bar for each page that could have the possibility for more pages, but this became complicated for me and decided against it.

Opportunites for Improvement

I believe if I had more time and understanding I could have cleaned up the overall site to look more professional and not “home-made.” I had struggled with the CSS in especially the margin/padding/positioning. If I could grasp the CSS and HTML codes along with tables, I think I could have made this a more fully functioning website with the registries, shows and so forth for more content and pages. I would have liked to add a database system for such registries as what we are looking at in the Australian club I am apart of, but I feel that is a completely different style of coding, etc than what I could understand right now. Overall, I am ok with what I have created because I surprised myself with what I had to make from scratch.
