Yarrangobilly Caves

Location

Located with in the Kosciusko National Park, 6.5kms off the Snowy Mountains Highway. The caves are 77kms from Tumut or 109 kms from Cooma.

Caves tours

Glory Hole Cave is a self-guided tour that is open from 10am to 4pm daily. Featuring the Glory Arch. Prices are as follows- Adults: $4, Children (5-15) and pensioners: $2

North Glory Cave is a 90min-tour size 40 max the cave is full with immense stalactites.

Jersey Cave is a 60min-tour size 20 max the cave is full with extensive rich formations.

Jillabenan Cave is a 60min-tour size 15 max full with decorations this is also has wheelchair access.

Glory Hole Cave

This is one of the largest caves at Yarrangobilly. Its self-guiding facilities allow you to visit this cave at your own pace.

Number of steps:206 plus ramps

Time for inspection:45 minutes

Estimated age: probably less than 100,000 years

North Glory Cave

This cave has a common entrance with the Glory Hole Cave through the Glory Arch and features immense stalactites.

Jersey Cave

This cave is noted for its extensive deposits of grey and black flowstone and the density and diversity of its formations.

Jillabenan Cave

Although small, this cave has impressive displays of delicate formations. The cave has restricted wheelchair access - phone Yarrangobilly Caves (02 6454 9597) for more information.

Other Caves

Infrequent tours are made to other smaller caves at Yarrangobilly. These caves are undeveloped, without lighting and may require special equipment. They are not to be entered without permission. Speleological Societies carry out scientific and exploration work at Yarrangobilly and in many other caving areas throughout Australia.

1
