Siraldor Guilds



Once, on Earth, there were Guilds. On Pern, those guilds still exist, and they are called Halls. Though on the Northern Continent, all Halls already exist, also on the SOuthern Continent Halls were raised to avoid problems like the long journey. Siraldor works together with Atalash Weyr, and they have a really good economic balance.

Wood Craft Hall

Wood Craft all is located in Siraldor Hold, since this Hold is surrounded by forests. The Wood Craft Hall is divided in 5 different facilities: the carver facility: here woodcarvers create wooden statues and little carvings, the choppers facility: here the woodchoppers and foresters gather to talk about the forests, how many trees have been chopped, how many new trees have been plant, how much wood they need for what; the trader facility: here the people that wish to trade or buy wood come to negotiate with the woodcrafters; the Woodcrafter facility: here the real job is done: Woodcrafters make wheels, carts, furniture, windows, doors and many other things for everyone on Pern. The last facility is a little different from the other: here research is done. Trees get combined here, new, harder, better wood species get created and many other wood-like things get invented here. The Wood Crafter hall trades with a lot of Halls: the provide Wood for ships, the ovens in Smith hall, strong bars for the Miners, fine wood for harper Hall, furniture for everyone on the Southern Continent, carts for the traders, partly-finished furniture for the weavers, stages,... anything you can think of.

Wine Craft Hall

The wine Hall of Moonblue Weyrhold is almost as Well-known as the Benden Wine Hall, since the brewers there are the best on the Southern Continent, and they make a delicious white wine with the grapes growing in the fertile soils. They get support from the farmers and the woodcarvers, since they trade wine for wood to make barrels. All brewers like good wine, and can emmidiately tell when a wine should be given. In Siraldor Hold, there's a small Wine Craft Hall, and they give a nice wine, but the only wine that's more popular than the 'Moonblue white', is Benden wine.

trader Craft Hall

Trader Craft Hall is located in Dragonsang Weyrhold, since it's kind of the most 'isolated ' part of the civilized Southern Continent. Dragons fly from and back to the Beast Craft Hall to get animals and products for gathers. Traders gather in this Weyrhold to talk to the Weyrlings and have a good time. They have a good relationship with the dragonriders and there's always a harper in their company to write down adventures.

Mine Craft Hall

Miner Craft Hall actually isn't a complete part of Seapearl Hold, it's sort of a small Hold on its own. It provides Firestone for both Siraldor and Atalash, and charcoal and iron and gems for the Smith Hall and the Starsmith Hall. It also has a good relation with the traders and Holders.

Smith Craft Hall

Smith Craft Hall is a very popular Hall, since they for research to improve life status and have good daggers and weaponry. They provide iron to the Harpers, Healers, fishers, Tailors, Weavers, Beast Crafters, Flit- and Dolphin breeders, scribes, Holds, traders, Weyrs,... To be short: to everyone on the Southern Continent.

Farm Craft Hall

Farm Craft Hall os located on the other side of Asgard Hold, jus like Beast Craft Hall, located on a mountain plateau. They work together with all the Holds, the brewers, the Weyrs, all the Halls and especially with the Beast Craft Hall and the Wood Craft Hall. They give advice on how to have a better harvest, bigger and stronger trees or more nutrisious animal food. They provide vegetables, fruits and grains to all the Holds and Weyrs on the Southern Continent, and they get all sorts of favors in return.

Star Craft Hall

Star Craft Hall is connected to Smith Craft Hall and makes the more delicate items: jewelry and fine daggers, fine glass glasses and windows, products with gems in, or a name, or other delicate things. Star Craft Hall is a very strong Hall, since it earns a lot of respect with women. Miners and Woodcrafters come there a lot to drop their products, and leave with jewelry.

Fisher Craft Hall

Fisher Craft Halls can be found in every Hold or Weyr near the Ocean. The Fisher Craft Halls are located in Weyrhold Dragondock and Dolphindance Hold. All Fisher Craft Halls include a haven where Dolphins can eat and talk to the fishermen and sailors. Fisher Craft Halls provide fish and sea fruit for the holds and Weyrs and work with the tailors and woodcrafters. They trade sails and wood for ships in exchange for fish, pearls and a shiny dust that can be found on some parts of the bottom of the ocean. All fishers make their own nets, and they buy their threads from the tailors. They need special wires and cables, they trade in Smith Hall in exchange for pearls and again the shiny dust.

Flit Hall

Flit Hall is a new Hall fonded on the Southern Continent. Since there has been an immense famine, most people weren't able to feed their flits, and since all animals were killed for their meat, also the wild flits couldn't find any food. The entire Southern Continent was plundered, with only a few of every specie left. Now, owning a flit is encouraged, and there is no limit on how many flits a person may have. The people that work in the Flit Halls are called Flitbreeders, since they do research on flit-mating behavior and try to get the flit population back to its former very crowded self. There are tow Flit Halls in Atalash territory: one in Weyrhold Dragondock, and a smaller one in Dolphindance Hold. They get support from all Holds and Halls, and their only trading product are flit-eggs.

Dolphineer Hall

Dolphineer Hall is a Hall that only exists on the Southern Continent. Dolphins work together with humans. When the fishers can't seem to catch enough fish, or can't find any pearls or shiny dust, they walk to a dolphineer for advice. The Dolphineers all 'have' a Dolphin, they 'Impressed' a Dolphin at birth and can talk to them. Most of the time, every boat has it's own Dolphin and Dolphineer, since a Dolphineer likes the Ocean and Sea. From the moment the boat has reached open sea, the Dolphineer jumps overboard to swim with his Dolphin, talk with him and guide the ship to good fishing places. Dolphins can predict bad weather and strong currents.

Harper Hall

Harper Hall is the most known Hall on Pern. It has a sub-Hall in every Hall, tough sometimes it's only a Drum-tower. Harpers are the Local and international newspapers of Pern, and they love it. They also teach the children of Pern how to read and write, or play instruments. harper Hall is located in Dolphindance Hold and consists of 3 parts: a huge Library, containing all knowledge on Pern, The Music room where instruments are played, made or repaired. Instruments also get researched to find better or funny ways to play them.The third part of Harper Hall is a Scribe Hall, tough on the Northern Continent, there's an a lot bigger Scribe Hall.Here, you can learn how to scribe properly. All Chronicles are researched and rewritten here, as are the Ballads.

Healer Hall

Healer Hall is located in Atalash Hold, in the center of the Huge Garden. Healers are, beside dragonriders, without a doubt the most important people on Pern. Day and Night, they are at their Guard, ready to heal even the smallest wounds. But don't forget Pern doesn't have the Technology of the 21st century: surgery will only be used if all other fails. The weapons of the healer are fellisjuice, some sort of sleep-potion, and Numbweed, made to a cream that instantly numbs any body part. On the Northern Continent, the Healers work closely together with the Harpers, since the Library is in Harper Hall On the Southern Continent, this is different. Of course, Healers and Harpers can do fine togheter, but there's a full healer Library in Atalash Hold, so why bother going to Harper Hall? Healer Hall consists of 4 facilities: The Healing Hall, where wounded people can stay to recover, or are being taken care of, a big lab where herbs are examined, the big Healer Library, and the Huge Garden, surrounding Atalash Hold, and of course the Glass Garden, where you can find herbs from all over Pern.

Scribe Hall

Scribe Hall is officially a part of Harper Hall, but on the Southern Continent, Scribe Hall was spread over all the Holds and Halls, to make sure there was always a Scribe at hand when needed. Scribes are, just like Healers and harpers, essential to Pern. They write down important events and classify them in the Chronicles, and they preserve the hides and Chronicles. Sometimes they also are teachers, in case Harpers aren't at Hand. Scribes also can be artist, like painters. Most people on Pern barely can read, tough on the SOuthern Continent, they try to make a change in that. Every Hold has at least one Scribe to fill in important paperwork in a fine, readable handwriting. Even the rich people have but a miserable handwriting, so Scribes are respected everywhere, and they enjoy a lot of privileges and respect.
