If you start in Omnatia, you are most likely to be a spy. Spies meet at the Golden Dragon, a gambling-house in the city of Omnatia. You are probably not a native of the city, so do not automatically know any of its languages. The only advantage you get beyond those of your kit and character class is that you know that the Golden Dragon is a spy nexus and that you can find employment if you turn up there.
Spies may not have the Limited Granted Power optional ability. You may only have the Limited Magical Skill optional ability if you are a native of Atlantis or Xenby. You may have any of the other optional abilities listed for newly-created characters, including Psionic Wild Talent, for the listed character point cost.
Alternatively, Omnatia has a sizeable Odinist community, of which you might be a member. If you are, you can be of any character class except paladin and druid, and any kit which makes sense (check with your DM). You are much more likely to be good than evil, and much more likely to be chaotic than lawful. You speak four languages: Norse, Thoqmaxi, the Desert Tongue and the Common Tongue. You have no other advantages beyond those of your kit and character class

Late in the evening, the Caliph of Agvhazar and his companions arrive in the city of Omnatia by flying carpet. It has been a long flight. Fortunately, Omnatia, on the coast, is easy to find from the air.
The Caliph knows nothing about Omnatia. You have to find an inn for the night. The locals suggest several names, including the Girl in the Clouds, the Saint and Sinner, the Gully-Gut and the Iron Cow. Choose one. Your DM will let you know how things turn out.
You may choose to visit a gambling-house. Omnatia is famous for them. The Caliph has heard of the most famous of all, the Golden Dragon. You may decide for yourself whether you think that a good thing or a bad thing, and he will abide by your decision. After all, you are the professional adventurers.
You, as a player character, might be an adventurer from Xenby, from Atlantis, or elsewhere. There might well be more than one player character in the party by now.
The Caliph's flying carpet seats four, so he is looking for three adventurers. If he does not yet have that many, you spread word that you are looking for someone.
If you are looking for someone, several people will turn up the following morning hoping for adventure, far more than you can take on a flying carpet. Ask your DM to describe a few of them, and make your choice.
Having completed the party, and rested overnight, you continue on to Agvhazar the next morning.
You have various options in Omnatia, but I have not yet written any of them up.
Consult your DM.
