The Fifty Worlds: DM Information

The World of Va

I haven't written this up yet.

Soon, I'll write up the city of Megalopolis.

Other parts of the world may or may not follow thereafter. We'll see how it goes.

The name Va is used for the world because (pay careful attention)

  • the Knights of Megalopolis named the world
  • the Knights of Megalopolis speak a language which is vaguely related to Ancient Greek (several of them originally came from Atlantis or other places on the world of Delta)
  • this is the second world out from the sun
  • the second letter of the Greek alphabet, beta, is actually pronounced as a V
  • but the name beta had already been used for the uninhabited planet two worlds in from Delta
  • the Knights of Megalopolis write their official decrees (including the one giving the world a name) in the Imperial Script of Darius
  • the nearest letter in this alphabet to the V-sound is va

Note that Coba is the same world as Va. This does not stop sages listing them separately when they enumerate the Fifty Worlds. Coba is the old name for the world, and is used for the part of the world which used to be populous but is now virtually deserted. Va is the new name for the world, and is used for the part of the world around the city of Megalopolis. It is practically impossible to travel between Coba and Va, so for most practical purposes they are indeed separate worlds.

I have no plans to write up the worlds of A or Ga. As far as I'm concerned, they're uninhabited.

Va has two moons. I'll add more about them later.
