BCC HISTORY

Binalbagan Catholic College(BCC) began as Binalbagan Catholic High School in 1957. Establishing a Catholic school in the area was a top priority of the Columban Fathers when they
came to Negros Island in 1950 and this was in accord with the call then of the Catholic Church all over the world. At that period, there were very few schools of higher education in the province of Negros.

The year 1961 saw the need of a catholic college in the south of Negros to help poorer students get a catholic education in the tertiary level as they could not afford to go to college in the cities. Thus Binalbagan Catholic College was established in that year. The BCC Elementary Department was later founded in 1963.

The school year 1978-1979 was marked by a significant change when the administration of the school was handed over to the Presentation Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary (PBVM). During the term of Sr. Aquila Sy from 1978-1979, BCC launched its program for social transformation in order to keep the thrust and orientation of the school Seminars and workshops were conducted to help update teachers knowledge and competency and use of materials relevant to the needs and situation of the Philippines. BCC became an affiliate of Education Forum, one of the mission Partners of the Association of Major Religious Superiors of the Philippines.

During the critical period in the history of the country from 1982-1986, BCC once more stood on the side of the oppressed.

The 90s were marked by the rise in the academic competence of graduates from elementary, high school, and college levels. The elementary and high school departments consistently made 100% passing in the national academic tests. In addition, the high school ranked as one of the top twenty provincial high schools in the country. The education students consistently obtained ratings higher than the national average in the national board examinations and the school had graduates in the topnotchers list.

After 50 years of dedicated service for quality Catholic education, BCC strengthens its commitment towards the realization of its vision mission as it steadfastly pursues the work towards being an accredited institution. In 2013, these efforts bore fruit when BCC attained Level 1 Accreditation for its Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) programs from the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU).
