Chapter 01

      �It�s due to gravity that you stay on the ground and not up in the air. Humans aren�t like birds. We�re not made to fly. Not unless one day you happen to have huge wings to support you in air or if you�re lighter than air.� Mrs. Love said sarcastically. Science is fun when you�re doing an experiment, or learning something new and cool. But learning what you already know; that�s boring. But not unless you have a novel to read, in which I have brought.

          �Rachel, why is there gravity?� She only asks questions to people who didn�t even look at the textbook and follow her for even a moment. �Umm� because without gravity, we�d never be floating endlessly?� I said with an innocent look. �Correct� but you should be listening. Ok?� She said with a disappointing look. My innocent smile suddenly turned into a �busted� look. �Yes, Mrs.� And brought away my book.

          It wasn�t long till the bell; I was getting my books and all when my best friend came to me. �Ah� Rachel got in trouble, Rachel got in trouble.� Callie sang, very annoying. But it was rare for me to get in trouble. I tend to be a goody-two-shoe. I�ll just let her have her fun.

          Callie and I have been friends since Grade one, even though it doesn�t seems like it. We always compete in the areas we�re good at, most in creativity. I don�t like to lose, but I usually convince myself that I�ll let her have her fun when she beats me. But there are times where she is happy, cheerful which make me happy and cheerful. She helps me out when I�m in trouble; she cheers me up. The strange thing though is that whenever she hyper, I�m not. And whenever I�m hyper (Which is rare) than she�s not. Lots of people get worried when we not together, they say thing like �Are you in a fight�, �Are you guys mad at each other�, things like that.

           Wired that people get worried whenever we�re not together, I�m usually alone any ways. Callie is more of a people person; I�m more of a loner. I�m not saying that I hate to be in a crowd, I�m saying that I would be on the outside of that crowd, not the center. Because of this I�m usually disconnected from the world around me. When I talk to others, I don�t know half the stuff they�re talking about, like other people, Actors/Actress, stores, and boys.

           I can live with that; I mean I never had a boyfriend or anything that like. I stick to my studies, homework, or school if you like. It doesn�t mean that I don�t have a crush on some guy, I don�t tell anyone though, not even to Callie. Even if I told her to keep her lips sealed, it would go around somehow and it would get to �him�. POFF! There goes my hope of asking him to go out on a date when the time is right.

            �Hello? Anyone in there?� I was just starring out in front of me; I have a tendency to do that. �Ye� Yeah?� �Hurry! I want to get of this class room before I fall sleep!� I was blocking her way from the door. Callie is always interested in science, but learning it. That�s a different story. Like most of her classes, she tends get extremely bored. It�s no wonder why she gets low marks in classes that are to boring for her.

           It was lunch now and the halls were filled with moving people trying to go the cafeteria. When I have homework I would go and work on it in another classroom, the teachers don�t mind. But today I had no homework to do, so I�m eating in the cafeteria with all my friends. I brought my books away in my locker and got my lunch. I walked to Callie�s locker, which is at the other end of the school.

           I would always walk to Callie�s locker, she seems to take a lot of time just putting her books away and getting her lunch. Sometimes my other friends would be at Callie�s locker, not today though. Callie�s locker is right beside John�s (Callie�s boyfriend), and he would always be there at the same time�

            �You know, somehow you could go faster. I mean spending 75 minuets in science can work up a appetite.� I would always say that, or something close to that. �Well sooorrry! Maybe you should just go a little slower next time.� �But I was going slower than before�� �Callie. Her locker is more organized than�anyone in this whole school! No wonder why she�s fast at putting her books away.� John was shoving his laptop in his locker, which was clearly too big to be in a locker. John gets his own laptop only because he has extremely weak wrist and ankles, so the school board gave one to him. �Hmmm� I never thought of that�� I think that Callie was thinking of something else at that time�

            John had to buy his lunch, but the line-up was too big, so he said that he�d wait until it gets smaller. We all went to our usual table, the one that�s at the corner. Jessa was already there, with a poutine in front of her, she was probably one of the first to be in line at the cafeteria lunch line. Callie is Jessa�s best friend, but just a friend to me. I find that they spend more time together, so why doesn�t anyone care if they�re not together? She gets extremely hyper all the time; this usually leads her to trouble�

           Jessa and John use to go out, but they broke up almost a year right before high school. John still loves her dearly, but Jessa�  I think the reason that John and Callie are going out, is just for John to see Jessa once in a while. But for some reason Jessa would make fun of John, and John would go and eat somewhere else (Usually in the halls) for that day. Jessa can be really mean at times�That�s why I hardly talk.

          �So how�s your day going, guys? Mine? Oh! Just swell, first I get pushed around and fall flat in my face in the hall, than my homework was incomplete� and I got a two late slips and almost a letter home�� They have a new program where if you do make a distraction (like small things like shooting stuff, talking, etc.). The teachers will record it and warn you. Next time you distract someone; you�ll get a letter home. Third and final distraction in the same classroom, detention or suspension. This program is really a hard one�

          Jenn and Jenni came with Dill Pickle Chips and a poutine, their favorite. Their real name is Jennifer, but they aren�t twins. And can be very confusing calling for one, but both come� So they named them selves Jenn and Jenni. Jenn is hyper all the time; she hangs around Jessa a lot because they make each other hyper. Jenn says what�s on her mind and sometimes she takes some words back� Jenni is more complicated, she�s either hyper or she�s either down�Jenni is very sociable than me, and goes to all dances, which I don�t. I hardly talk to them, and they hardly talk to me. I don�t think they even know my name�

           �Hey guys! How you doing?!� Jenn was shouting across the cafeteria. � Guess what we found out! You so won�t believe it.� Jenn was now claming down when she and Jenni arrived at the table. �Actually, I think they would believe this.� Jenni was hyper, but she could be hyper than that, trust me. �So enough of what you think it is and tell me what it is.� Jessa was known to be very impatient.

           �Guess who�s Kayleigh next target? The one and only Jeremy!� Jenn announced. �You�re kidding, him!? She�s way out of her league now. She nuts, that�s like a having a crush on a murder!� John would know that, his other buds stay far from Jeremy. Jeremy is a pothead, smoker, troublemaker, and all of the above. I would think that Kayleigh is a little desperate for love. You see Kayleigh is like a stalker, she sees a nice looking boy and spy on him, and write letters to him and maybe ask him out. Though she usually gets turned down. I don�t think she ever experienced true love, even though she says that about every boy she meets and that is a lot of boys� Kayleigh is a troublemaker, why? Well, she loves a teacher!! The construction teacher, Mr. C or Mr. Carmel, this is truly a disaster to happen. I mean he�s what�45 and he even has kids and a wife! Now that�s low, even to her.

          My friends don�t like her, but still she hangs around us. I like her though, she nice and fun. But sometimes I think she�s just got some bad friends. Like one of her friends she hangs around is Sam, a very temperamental and rude girl. If your mean to her, she�ll never, ever be nice to you again. And than there�s Liza, a psycho bitch on two legs (excuse my language). She�s mean all the way. Rude to even strangers. All except her friends, and follows Kayleigh like a holy goddess who just granted her freedom. Liza is also a heavy smoker and deals with some drugs. Now do you see what I mean about Kayleigh friends? I mean, maybe that�s how she�s got such a terrible reputation.

           �She got to be nuts, I mean, Jeremy? That�s pretty bad, for both of them.� Callie was right. If they get together, can you imagine what damage they can do? �When did this happen? I mean she knew him before, why didn�t she ask he out before?� Jessa was on to something, though I find it was pointless, cause I knew the answer. John knew it too, � He was her last resort.�

           �Talk about running low on boys to ask out, it�s funny, too.� Jenni was laughing so hard that she almost choked on her chips. � She told me this morning, right before the bell.� Jenni hangs around Kayleigh, only in the morning though. After Jenni tells us who�s her next target is or all the gossip she got from her, although I find that very mean and disrespectful. It�s not like Kayleigh is some kind of Guinea pig and that we�re watching her progress. �Did she write a letter to him already?� Jessa loves reading Kayleigh letters to other boys. �No, it�s worst� Jess said. �What than?� Callie was anxious, as of I. �She ask him out and he �� Jenni couldn�t get the words out of her mouth. �What? Got turned down?� Callie really wanted to know. �No, he said yes.�
