Turndown Collars
A selection of images of modern and vintage turndown day collars, dating from the 1920s to the present.  Stiff detachable turndown collars of this type began to come into vogue in the 1920s (if not before) and continued to be part of everyday wear for those in clerical professions until the 1950s or 1960s when they began to be supplanted by attached collar shirts.  This style of collar remains correct for formal daywear, such as morning dress, for example.
