PLAYMOBIL® is a toy made in Germany. It was born in 1974. And now, it spreads over more than 100 countries and loved by 1.5 billion people in the world.
I have been to German several times, and actually I found PLAYMOBIL® is a very popular national toy for children. In Germany, PLAYMOBIL® figures have been regarded as toys for mainly infants and toddlers. But in Japan, my country, they are recognized as collectable items for adult, especially for young people. (Like Barbie dolls or G.I. Joe figures.)
They, PLAYMOBIL® figures, are only three inches tall, and they have similar simple faces. But they have different characters one from another. Their faces remind me pictogram signs in Europe and their smart designs lead me to the world of German modern design. PLAYMOBIL® items put up in sets expand industrial, medical, trains, medieval, American Indians, Western,farme house, traditional dollhouses, etc.
Various characters of them and elaborate structures must make all kids and adults crazy.
If you reminded of LEGO® block series, you're right. Both toys have similar type of charm. And most of European plastic toys have special zest, I believe.
