It includes three books, Ainulindalë, Akhallabęth, and Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age. Ainulindalë focuses mainly on the elves and the Valar, the divine beings that took part in the forging of Arda, and their ongoing strife with Morgoth, predecessor to Sauron. Akhallabęth tells of the making and decay of Númenor and of the end of the Second Age of the Sun. Of the Rings of Power tells precisely about the rings of power used by Sauron to ensnare the elves, the dwarves and men and all that goes forth in The Lord of the Rings.
