    Dec 7 Switch man brought a paper showing Pena to owe him $19.30/1.00. Sent the same to Mr. Macpherson stating that Pena did not receive his money here, he left taking his English spanner with him.

    Jan 3 Gave T. Grieg a leather cap, returned old one. Went to Santiago, left my watch with MR. DAVEY.

    Jan 7 Pedro sent a man to say he would summon me for Pena's account. Went to Santiago by No 16. Slept at Hotel Tarapaca. Hen brought out one duck.

    Jan 8 Saw Mr. Brunton & Mr. Macpherson. Returned by train 19. Delivered a leather cap to driver of 218.

    Jan 13 He returned it for alteration. Hen brought out 1 duck
