Three years passed since Trunks' arrival. A lot has changed since then, Trunks from the future is now called Miari Trunks since Chibi Trunks is born, and Vegeta joins the Z warriors, but having the same attitude. Miari Trunks arrives from the future to find that there is another android, Android #16. The androids in Miari Trunks' timeline are #17 and #18. Also the creator, Dr. Gero, turns himself into Android #21. He is easily defeated by Vegeta who learns how to turn Super Saiyan during his training. Right before he dies, he issues the final command for Android #21 (Cell).

Cell is made of single cells from the srongest warriors in the univerese. Cell breaks out of his test tube and seeks to absourb #17 and #18. When Cell finally absorbs the androids, he turns into Perfect Cell. No one can offer a challange so he starts thinking of all the fights as games, thus sums the title, Cell Game. Cell later announces that he will hold a tournament to the warriors that think they can defeat him.

The tournament begins. First, a fighter from Earth, who is really a coward that takes all the credit and is really weak, Mr. Satan. He gets defeated easily by one slap from Cell. Then, Son Goku fights with Cell. The battle ends by default of Goku giving up and allowing his son, Gohan, to be the next challenger. Gohan comes face to face with Cell and tells him that he doesnt want to fight him because he could kill him with his hidden power. Cell finds this story to be intriguing and tries to piss off Gohan so that he will unleash his hidden power and the fight would be more challenging. The plan works when he creates seven Cell juniors who attempt to kill his friends and father. Cell's plan actually takes affect when he, himself, kills #16. Gohan gets pushed off the edge and powers up and reaches SSJ2, then Cell realizes that he over did it. Gohan defeats the Cell juniors with just one kick to each of them. Gohan retrieves the stollen senzu beans from Cell and gives them to Trunks to distribute them to the others.

Gohan starts to attack Cell. As the battle goes on, Cell is forced to power up to his maximum power which is an insult to Gohan's at this point. Even with his maximum power, Cell is still no match for Gohan. Gohan attacks Cell with two punches that immediately made him regurgitate #18. Cell disgustingly powers down to his second form and gohan then attempts to kill him. But Cell gets so mad that he self-destructs and blows up the entire Solar System. Goku quickly teleports Cell and himself to a safe distance, like King Kai's Planet. Cell blows up killing both Goku and King Kai. Everyone was sad, but the battle wasn't over yet, Cell some how regenerated from just one cell from his body. Cell was able to become "perfect" without #18 upon regenerating.

Cell was able to absorb Goku's Instantaneous Movement and teleport back to the battle field where he kills Miari Trunks with a surprise attack. Vegeta finally saw what had happened to his son and powered up to a SSJ where he tried to attack Cell. His attempts was useless. Cell defeats him within a minute and was soon to kill him when Gohan saved him and his right arm gets crippled. Gohan had decided to give up, but encouragement came from his father and decides to fight the battle to the end. Cell begins to create his own Kamehameha and then does Gohan. A stalement is drawn only with the encouragement of Gohan's dead father. Gohan over powers Cell with the help of Vegeta, by him blasting his Final Flash attack, and kills him with only one arm! Everyone is wished back to life except Goku because he was already wished back to life once. But Goku was proud of his son and watched over him in the heavens. King Kai kept on yelling at Goku for bringing Cell to his planet. Miari Trunks later returns to his own time where he destroys the two remaining androids #17 and #18 and Imperfect Cell. Peace has finally returned back to Earth...but for how long.
