LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS
This page will carry the full, ward-by-ward results of the local elections held in the UK on 10 June 2004.
On this date elections were held to metropolitan boroughs and those districts in England which elect by thirds. In the metropolitan boroughs and a few districts all the seats were up for election due to boundary changes. In addition, elections for all districts in Wales were held; these had been postponed from 2003 so as not to coincide with National Assembly for Wales elections.
The elections were postponed from 6 May 2004 in order to coincide with the European Parliament elections held in the second week of June. In addition, four regions of England (the East Midlands, North East England, North West England and Yorkshire & The Humber) undertook all-postal voting as a pilot scheme, resulting in a large increase in turnout. Local government districts where all-postal voting took place are shown in the list in italics.
I have collected a set of results for every council, and am therefore not looking for any further results, but if you discover an error in any result please email andrewteale(at)yahoo.co.uk and tell me; wrong information is not information. Feel free to link to this page, or copy the results for your own use.
