Childhood Memories

When I was still living in Ang Mo Kio, I once crashed my left knee against the ceramic-tiled wall while running in the house. There was a huge gash on my knee and blood was flowing out profusely. My mother tried to arrest the bleeding with bandages and dark-blue iodine. I was crying as usual. When I was little, I was a crybaby, no doubt about that. In order to appease me, My Dad who just got back from work, rushed down to departmental store "John Little" to buy a set of plastic dinosaur models. It must been difficult to raise a child, lol.

When we moved to Tampines, my sister and I attended a nearby kindergarten. While waiting at the void deck for class to start, an Alsatian dog chased us and leaped onto my sister when we collided into a queue of students. A parent chased the dog away and my sister went off with a teacher for medical first aid. This incident made me a little wary of dogs till I moved to my present private housing. Here in our little deserted road, dogs are a familiar sight and I am no longer scared of dogs anymore.

In Kindergarten 2, a fat boy named James used to bully me as I was then a timid boy. I told my dad about it and he went to school with me the next day. He asked to speak to James and the teacher permitted. James never did bully me again, lol.

When I was little, my Mum used to monitor my diet so that I will have a balanced and nutritious one. I was barred from snacking without permission. I soon came to know about a container of delicious biscuits in the cabinet. I waited till Mum left the house for market and started "stealing" the bicuits for consumption. Mum forgot to bring hr umbrella and so re-entered the house soon after leaving. She caught me in the act and I started telling a lie. I said:" There's a cockroach in the cabinet and I wanted to catch it." It was a stupid lie as I had a phobia of cockroach then, lol. My 1st conscious lie I remembered in my life.
