"He didn't even say goodbye!" said Jim. "He just threw some dirt over his back, turned, and walked off into the sunset, Hollywood style."
"Dude." said Kevin. "Of course he didn't say goodbye. Elephants can't talk."
"This one could." said Jim. "He's just forgotten how to."

Hi everybody!! (said in my best Dr. Nick Riviera voice) I've now officially moved here, and the forgetful elephant is retiring. In a press conference earlier today he stated that he was "too old", that he felt he needed "a new challenge", and that he'd "had enough of this crap". Then he stormed off to sulk with the rhinos.

Big love and thanks to everyone who's been visiting since I started blogging. I'm touched that some of you out there enjoy reading about little old me. You make me feel loved, and I hope to see you all over at my new home, or else there'll be trouble! ;-D

This is one of the last posts you'll see here at Forgetful Elephant, but I'll continue to blog at my new geocities address which I've set up temporarily until I've finished the new layout and decided on a host. Basically it'll be a new blog with a new name and a different look, but it'll still be me, so nothing's changed really!

But don't y'all hurry over there 'til I say so now y'hear?? :p

In my uncommonly inspired state, I have come up with a new idea for my blog. I want a blog that says more about who I am, and the things I love. Sure, 'Forgetful Elephant' does this, but it was only ever a temporary name, and it's a little cute for me (not that I'm not of course). I think I've found a name that suits me a little better, and I've got a few themes in mind.

Anyway, I need help. I have a very basic understanding of HTML, so if I'm gonna do this myself I'm gonna need some help from one or more very kind and fabulous individuals (I know you're out there somewhere). Unfortunately, I can't afford to go to somewhere like the fantastic Blogmoxie for a design. All I can afford is a new domain name and somewhere to host my site.

So if anybody out there wants to help with my new design, or knows where to get hosted, or has any info on anything at all to do with this, please let me know. You'd have my eternal thanks!

After my depressed post earlier, I took a good long hard look at myself in the mirror.

"So what's up?" I say.
"Oh, you know. Lots of things." I answer.
"But nothing that can't be fixed, right?"
"Well, yeah, I suppose not." I think for a moment. "It's just so hard to sort things out sometimes."
"And? Welcome to the real world, pal. It's the same for everybody. Everything requires some sort of effort. You'll only get out of this life what you put in."
"I suppose that's true." I say. "Clichd, but true."
"Well, there ya go then. What's the use in worrying your life away? Get to it!!"
"Ok, I will."

Alright, so maybe I'm taking a little artistic license there, but that's pretty much how it went. So I'm feeling a little more inspired now, and I'm going to pursue my ambitions with renewed vigour and stubborness. Watch out world. :-)

Yeah, so... anyway... last night was the third night in a row I've half fallen asleep, only to wake up again and realise I'm actually crying. Like, what the fuck is up with THAT!? Am I having weird dreams or something, and they're totally fucking me up 'cause I think they're real!?

This has me a little worried. It's true that I have been feeling a little depressed recently, but that happens a lot, and not once have I ended up crying myself to sleep about... well, seemingly nothing. I do have a lot of unresolved issues floating around inside my head, but I choose not to tell people because NOBODY understands them. I would say that anybody who knows me knows I have huge fits of depression, followed by rushes of euphoria (manic depressive behaviour? I have no idea, I've never asked anyone) but they DON'T, because I hide it from EVERYBODY. Perhaps this is my body's way of externalising the emotions I lock up inside me...

From now on I vow to be more honest on my blog. I realise I will alienate some people who come here, but frankly, I owe it to myself, and anybody who continues to read my blog, to be truthful.

Yesterday an old friend of mine came over for the day and, as always tends to happen when we meet up, conversation quickly moved to the topic of music. We're both passionate about music (although my tastes are far more diverse than his), so we always have some really good arguments, and the same goes for film and TV, but to a lesser extent. Anyway, here's a few questions that came out of yesterday that I thought I'd share with you:

1. Is Travis' new song 'Re-Offender' any good?
2. How the hell did MC Hammer get to have any sort of career in music at all?
3. Is Kylie Minogue more attractive now than she used to be in the late 80's/early 90's?
4. Just how old IS Ethan Hawke?
5. Does a month go by without VH1 doing another random pointless 'Top 100' countdown?
6. Is Jack Osbourne (son of Ozzy) the most hated person in the world?
7. Prince wrote 'Sign O' The Times', 'When Doves Cry', and 'Purple Rain' during the 80's - how did he become such an awful songwriter during the 90's? And where the hell has he disappeared to?
8. Michael Jackson's 'Stranger In Moscow' was his last GREAT song - yes/no?
9. Did Bryan Adams' 'Everything I Do (I Do It For You)' deserve to be number 1 in the UK for 16 weeks?
10. Michael J. Fox - talented, under-rated actor? Or a typecast, one-trick pony?
11. Is Harrison Ford too old to do a fourth Indiana Jones movie?
12. Ben Affleck - he's an annoying asshole, right?

I've been looking for a portable mp3 player for a little while now, and today I finally decided to take the plunge and buy THIS one. I chose it because the main reason I want one is for when I go jogging or to the gym, and it has a nifty arm band type thingy which means I can wrap it round an arm and pretty much forget about it. Which is obviously good. Duh.

And of course, being the PATHETIC slave to fashion that I am, it's endorsed by Nike. Yeah, ok, so maybe they do employ 5yr old kids in their Far Eastern factories of shame and pay them a pittance, and I admit I'm probably paying more just because it's got a swoosh on the front of it, but dammit they still make some nice stuff. So yeah, I was partly seduced by the name, but at least I can admit it.

Also, as most of my Saturday nights recently have consisted of me tucked up in bed by 9pm with a cup of cocoa watching a movie (ok, maybe not that girly, but I certainly haven't been out painting the town red... or any other colour), I decided to take part in Test The Nation, a quiz on TV. Basically, you had to answer 70 multiple choice general knowledge questions, then at the end of the show see how many you got right and then work out your 'quiz quotient'. Pretty pointless though, as all through the show they kept reiterating that whatever you score is NOT directly related to how intelligent you are. So really it was nothing more than a huge, nationwide, pointless meme. But for what it's worth, I got 55/70 correct, giving me a QQ of about 132, which apparently means I'm in the UK's top 2%. Of what I have no idea, but hey, it sounds good to me.
