The field behind the studio

Fountain by Snow White's Wishing Well

It started out as a long-awaited trip to Disneyland on February 13, 1999I thought Manny was taking me for my birthday.  After a day full of fun, we had dinner at the Blue Bayou restaurant, inside Pirates of the Caribbean.  We had the perfect seat by the river, right next to actor Rob Schneider.  After dinner, we rode whatever rides were open in Fantasy Land.  We ended up by Sleeping Beauty's Castle as the clock struck midnight.

Manny proposed at midnight at the fountain by Snow White's Wishing Well, pictured above, as it became Valentine's Day 1999.  I was completely taken by surprise.  I don't think Manny knew I was surprised, because at dinner I had remarked the setting was so romantic that it seemed like an ideal place for someone to propose - but I honestly had no idea.  Manny almost had to wrestle with me to get the ring on while I was beating him with  the camera (which disappeared before we developed the film).  At some point, I shrieked, "Yes!"

The next night my parents went to Manny's parents' home for a private  engagement party.  Manny's mom had prepared the most delicious cakes. It was great to see our Chinese and Mexican families come together.

Now for the hard but fun part:  Planning!

Here's our engagement photo (taken 7 months after our engagement).  The first thing that many people said when we announced our engagement was,  "Let's see the ring!"  It is a round solitaire diamond set in platinum.  Manny picked it out, after studying up on diamonds, and it was/is perfect.
