ELEMENTARY DIVER

Introduction

Before training commences the trainee must have completed a Fitness Assessment to the satisfaction of D.O., signed a declaration of fitness form and completed a medical questionnaire. It is essential that before starting the open section of the Elementary Diver, a medical examination by an MD is completed.

Lectures

The following lectures are to be given,S1 to S6 and E1 to E6

Basic Assessment

1. Assemble, test and fit S.C.U.B.A.

2. Demonstrate safe entry and buoyancy control, safe method of descent.

3. Clear mouthpiece and mask three times.

4. Remove S.C.U.B.A. and refit.

5. Fin 50 metres on bottom of swimming area wearing full S.C.U.B.A. with mask blacked out.

6. At surface remove weight belt and S.C.U.B.A. and hand to assistant.

7. Fin 50 metres on surface breathing through snorkel, but wearing full S.C.U.B.A.

8. Share S.C.U.B.A. for 50 metres both as donor and receiver on bottom of swimming area.

9. Tow a fully kitted diver 50 metres on surface incorporating A.V.

10. Simulated dive.
