Life's Instructions

1. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

2. Memorise your favorite poem.

3. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or loaf all you want.

4. When you say "I Love You," mean it.

5. When you say I'm sorry look the person in the eye.

6. Be engaged six months before you get married but don't wait to love each other.

7. Believe in love at first sight.

8. Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.

9. Love deeply and passionately. You may get hurt, but it's the only way to love completely.

10. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.

11. Don't judge people by their relatives or the life they were born into.

12. Teach yourself to speak slowly but think deeply.

13. When asked a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"

14. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risks.

15. Call a relative, they might not be there next time.

16. Say bless you when you hear someone sneeze.

20. When you realised you made a mistake, admit it and take immediate steps to correct it.

21. Smile when picking up the phone, the caller will hear it in your voice.

22. Marry a person you love to talk to. As you get older, conversational skills will be even more important.

23. Spend some time alone. Meditate on the word empathy.

24. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.

25. Remember that silence is often the best answer.

26. Read more books. The internet and television are no substitutes.

27. Live a good, honorable life. When you get older and think back,

you'll be able to enjoy it a second time.

28. Trust in God but lock your car and be careful who you give your visa card number to.

29. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for good life.

Create a tranquil, harmonious home.

30. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation.

Don't bring up the past.

31. Don't just listen to what someone is saying. Listen to why they are saying it.

32. Share your knowledge. Share you strengths. It's a way to achieve acceptance to immortality.

33. Be gentle with the earth.

34. Pray or meditate. There's immeasurable power in it.

35. Never interrupt when you are being flattered.

36. Mind your own business.

37. Don't trust anyone who doesn't close his/her eyes when you kiss.

38. Once a year go someplace you've never been before.

39. If rich, help others while you are living.

It is wealth's greatest satisfaction.

40. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

41. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.

42. The best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.

43. Judge you success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

44. Live with the knowledge that your character is your destiny.

45. Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.

46. Always consult with your best friend - YOU! - before you make that scary leap.

47. Know this: Life is a gift.

It is not returnable or renewable.

48. "I wish I had . . . " is only for those who didn't pursue their wildest dreams.

49. Take your deepest, darkest most humiliating secret out and stare it in the face until you can accept it. Then live in the security that you will never fear it again.

50. Love has no definition. Therefore it has no precedence to follow. Each love has it's own beginning and ending...cannot be compared with or governed by any other...live life as a newborn.

Friends without Faces

We sit and we type, and we stare at our screens
We all have to wonder, what this possibly means.

With our mouse we roam, through the rooms in a maze
Looking for something or someone, as we sit in a daze.

We chat with each other, we type all our woes
Small groups we do form, and gang up on our foes.

We wait for somebody, to type out our name
We want recognition, but it is always the same.

We give kisses and hugs, and sometimes flirt
In IMs we chat deeply, and reveal why we hurt.

We do form friendships - but - why we don't know
But some of these friendships, will flourish and grow.

Why is it on screen, we can be so bold
Telling our secrets, that have never been told.

Why is it we share, the thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see, as though we were blind.

The answer is simple, it is as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems, and need someone to tell.

We can't tell real people, but tell someone we must
So we turn to the 'puter, and to those we can trust.

Even though it is crazy, the truth still remains
They are Friends Without Faces, and odd little names.

A Lesson in Life

Sometimes people come into your life and you know right away that they were meant to be there, to serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson, or help figure who you are or who you want to become.

You never know who these people may be; Your roommate, neighbour, professor, long lost friend, lover, or even a complete stranger who, but when you lock eyes with them, you know that very moment that they will affect your life in a very profound way.

And...sometimes things happen to you, and at the time, that may seem horrible, painful and unfair, but in reflection you realize that without overcoming those obstacles you would have never realized your potential, strength, will power or heart.

Everything happens for a reason.  Nothing happens by chance or by means of good or bad luck.  Illness, injury, love, lost moments of true greatness and sheer stupidity all occur to test the limits of your soul.

Without these small tests, if they be events, illness or relationships, life would be like a smoothly paved, straight, flat road to nowhere.  Safe and comfortable, but dull and utterly pointless.

The people you meet who affect your life and the successes and downfalls you experience create who you are, and even the bad experiences can be learned from.  In fact, they are probably the most poignant and important ones.

If someone hurts you, betrays you or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and the importance of being cautious to who you open your heart to.

If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but they are teaching you to love and opening your heart and eyes to things you would have never seen or felt without them.

Make every day count.  Appreciate every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able experience it again.

Talk to people you have never talked to before, and actually listen, let yourself fall in love, break free and set your sights high.

Hold your head up because you have every right to.  Tell yourself you are a great individual and believe in yourself, for if you don't believe in yourself, no one else will believe in you either.

You can make your life anything you wish.  Create your own life and then go out and live it!
